We put cloud-init on GitHub as a mirror of Fedora's git repo to gain visibility and encourage contributions. How do people feel about doing the same for the docker-io repo? -s

Cloud Testing

Greetings, Cloud list! I've been looking through the QA tasks we have for cloud and had some questions. I'm searching for some tests we currently run against cloud images and I haven't been able to find much. While we have two test cases on the Installation portion of the Release Validation matrix [0], we don't seem to have other tests to run against the images. Which of these test cases need to be updated to reflect changes since last revision? Once we have the testcases that we need to cover the RC [1], then we can start looking into what tests can be converted to tasks for taskotron. We still have some time between now and branching for Alpha and now is a good time to devise the tests we need for good coverage. proposal: Fedora Cloud Experimental image/spin?

So, we've got the traditional Cloud Base image, and the focused Fedora Atomic image. (Plus of course the Big Data one, which will build on top of Cloud Base.) What if we also have a Fedora Cloud Experimental image? This would be only rawhide nightlies, with no other releases. And it'd be a place where we could try out not-ready-for-prime-time ideas like the alternate metadata services and networkd. I thought that the Fedora Atomic image would serve this role, but as I'm thinking about it, and especially as we get closer to actually having "production" releases of that, I think that while it'll probably _get_ those experimental things sooner, there's enough going on with Atomic itself that it'd be better to have a separate place to do the actual experimenting. #16: rename cloud spin kickstart to distinguish the cloud base image --------------------+-------------------------------- Reporter: mattdm | Owner: Type: task | Status: new Priority: minor | Milestone: Fedora 21 (Branch) Component: --- | Keywords: meeting --------------------+-------------------------------- I have been calling the new general purpose cloud image "Fedora Cloud Base" to distinguish it from the Docker image, the Big Data image, and a potential OpenShift image (if that turns out to not be the Docker one.) I propose we officially call the general-purpose cloud image (currently, the only one) "Fedora Cloud Base". And I'm tagging this with the meeting keyword for ratification. One behind-the-scenes complication is that the spins process involves assembling kickstart fragments, one of which is suffixed with "-base.ks" already, so there is a "cloud-image-base.ks", which would presumably became "cloud-base-base.ks", which is... awesome? silly?
