Hey there,
I can't remember exactly when, but the idea came up around creating a packaging group for the Cloud SIG. The idea sounds like a good one.
A packaging group allows the SIG to get packages updated more quickly when a bug or CVE appears. Also, we could take a more unified approach to how we handle different types of cloud-related packages, especially around the growing list of cloud CLIs and SDKs.
It was also noted that adding a packaging group drastically increases the amount of email we would receive from various tools, especially Bugzilla. 😅
My main questions are:
1) Would a Cloud SIG packaging group make sense? 2) How do we handle the email floods? 3) If this idea sounds good, what steps do we need to do?
Thanks for reading this far!

Yes. This would greatly support requests such as: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2091389

Email filtering seems fine.

One could take a look at the SciTech SIG: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Category:SciTech_SIG?rd=SIGs/SciTech#Packages
It would probably be helpful for other SIGs to have packaging groups, as it would also enable easier packager onboarding and package handover.

It was me on 2021-11 (time flies!), but had not time to continue with the proposal.

I find the proposal interesting. Being member of other sigs has allowed me to contribute more band better.

Filtering and removing some of the notifications form https://apps.fedoraproject.org/notifications works for me.
- If this idea sounds good, what steps do we need to do?
Should be discussed in the next cloud meeting and approve it?
Kind regards, Mikel

Nice! Now that I've seen how the go-sig and python-sig groups have helped so much with backporting various packages of mine to epel9, I'm really in support of it.
I liked the idea before and I love it now. 💕

Totally agree. It would be nice to team up on reviews, updates, and issues.

Absolutely. I'll open an issue in Pagure in the meantime and send a link here so we don't forget about it. 😜
