[PATCH] Add --force-path option to force overwrite of virt-path location
by James Pryor
Hello list,
Been learning cobbler/koan and really fond of it.
In koan, I added a '--force-path' option to have it overwrite the
virt-path file location so I can have koan instantiate a VM & use
pre-existing VM image files. Koan's default behavior remains unchanged
and I present the user with a more friendly error message:
"The location %s is an existing file. Consider '--force-path' to
overwrite it."
Thanks,
James

Git tags and updates
by Todd Zullinger
I see that 2.0.7 was released about a month ago. I don't see any tag
in the fedorahosted.org git repo (nor for any release since 2.0.4).
It also seems that not all commits which make up 2.0.7 are included.
In particular, I don't see the update to add fedora15 to codes.py.
Has the official git repo location changed? Am I looking on the wrong
branches? Are changes just not being pushed (and the --tags option
forgotten)?
Thanks,

patch - update parents of profiles / systems after editing
by Mark Levedahl
With this change, the parents of systems and profiles are updated when
the user edits them. This fixes a really nasty bug wherein objects are
deleted when deleting a former (but not current) parent, e.g.
1. change profile for 20 systems from Fedora-12 to Fedora-14
2. delete Fedora-12
3. Before this patch, the profile and 20 system definitions would
be deleted as the profile's parent is still Fedora-12. :^(
4. With this patch, only the now unused distro (Fedora-12) is deleted.

Implement real renames of distros and repos
by Mark Levedahl
I've lost too many GBytes of downloaded data by naively presuming that
cobbler [distro|repo] rename actually renames, rather than just deleting
the old data and starting over. The attached patch takes care of the
issue for me.

ESXi patch
by Iain Cambridge
Hi,
Would just reply to active thread but just joined the list so can't. I
was wondering if anyone else has had issues with getting the patches to work
with git repository. I am currently getting the following message when I try
to apply the patch.
iain-en1:gitrepos iain.cambridge$ patch a/cobbler/action_import.py

Also any ETA on having this functionality merged into the master branch?
Thanks in advance.

Patches for Cobbler and Koan
by Konrad Scherer
Greetings,
I would like thank the cobbler team and community for a very useful
tool. I work at Wind River Systems on the Linux product team and our
customers build the Linux product themselves on one of our many
supported host Linux distributions. I am using Cobbler to do both bare
metal and vm installs of Red Hat, Fedora, OpenSuSE, SLED, Ubuntu and
Debian to help us get better test coverage. So far I have had to make
a few small changes to support Ubuntu and Debian and found some bugs
for which I am sending some patches. I also have made the changes
available in a GitHub tree at https://github.com/kscherer/cobbler in
the branch wrs.
Comments welcome

Preliminary EFI profile booting
by Devan Goodwin
Attached is a patch for getting a start on EFI booting of Cobbler
profiles. Hopefully the details in the commit message cover
everything. Testing / feedback appreciated, let me know if you have
questions.
This hasn't been pushed yet but should apply clean to master as of this morning.
Cheers,
Devan

koan patch for static builds
by Rodger Donaldson
Out environment has a need for the kickstart to proceed with, and build a
guest with, static IPs. We've accomplished this with the livecd
(https://fedorahosted.org/cobbler/wiki/CobblerLiveCd), but it required a
few changes to get things running.
The patch below was generated via git-diff. Notable points are:
* Fixes a bug where specifying --koan="" and --server="" would cause the
server spec to be dropped when generating the INSERT_KOAN_ARGS
replacement.
* --static-device=xxx pulls the DNS info down and adds to the kickstart
parameters built for grubby; without this static builds were failing in
our environment. This correctly enumerates and appends an arbitary number
of DN servers.
* Working with Fedora 12, since Fedora 10, which is the default from git
clone, is no longer hosted at the defined URL. The change required a few
kickstart package changes to work.
I hope this is useful.
