DHCP entries removed when netboot-enabled=N
by Dan Alvarez
I read through the thread back in 2012, but it didn't look to have resulted
in a final conclusion. I'm happily using cobbler to set up my DHCP and
DNS for the cluster. It all works fine for my regular ports, but I'm also
using provisioning through cobbler for my ipmi interfaces (DHCP and DNS)
but I loose my DHCP leases on those after some time.
Why don't the dhcp entries persist even with netboot-enabled set to False?
Is there a way to force the dhcp entries for an interface to be persistent?
I'm in version 2.4.0
Thanks

help with modifying a profile via perl
by Neil Watson
Greetings,
I'm using the cobbler that ships with Red Hat's Satellite server, 2.0.7.
I'm writing a perl script to allow remote cobbler configuration. I can
create, search, and delete cobbler profiles, but modifying them gives me
an error.
Given the profile string 'name', I'm trying to get handle that I can use
to make the modifications. I'm using Perl's xmlrpc::lite module.
$system_id = $server->get_profile_handle( $profile_name, $token)->result()
or die "Could not find $profile_name, $!";
This always returns an error. The cobbler log shows 'unknown profile
name'. I find the cobblers terms profile, name, and such confusing.
Sometimes profile refers to the kickstart profile inside the cobbler
profile. I also tried replacing get_profile_handle with get_name_handle,
but the error persisted.
How can I make this work?

General cobbler repo question
by Daniel Paquet
Hello list,
I would like to know if cobbler is able to do versioned repo sync.
I will try to explain what I mean here.
I want to be able to have multiple metadata for the same repo.
Example, I want to be able to sync a repository on monday, and create the
metadata for that monday.
And sync the same repo tuesday, but have also the metadata for tuestday.
With this I can have some servers on the monday metadata while some
others are on the tuesday metadata.
With this I am able to put some servers on a more up to date metadata
while some others are on a older one.
I want to do this to control which new packages is installed in the
systems, that way I wont crash all systems in the event of a bad package
(from me or a 3rd party).

gpgcheck=0 for all repos?
by Robert Jacobson
I have cobbler 2.4.0 (from EPEL) on RHEL6.5.
When I do a "wget" for a system's cobber-config.repo, all the repos have
gpgcheck set to 0:
# wget -q "http://cobbler/cblr/svc/op/yum/system/jaguar" -O - | grep gpg
gpgcheck=0
gpgcheck=0
gpgcheck=0
This did not use to be the case, so something changed on the server, but
I don't know what..
I'm guessing this is coming from the local "config.repo" files in all
my repository mirrors.
From my reading of the code in action_reposync.py, if I set the yum option
"gpgcheck=1"
for all my repositories, when I do a reposync, it will write gpgcheck=1
into the config.repo file.
Is that correct?

Using Cobbler to mirror Ubuntu repos
by Larry J Prikockis
Before I abandon using cobbler entirely to manage Ubuntu installs, I'd
LOVE to hear from anyone out there who is using Cobbler to manage/mirror
Ubuntu (or debian) repos.
I'm finding it devilishly hard to get the repos configured and sync'd in
a way that I can properly use them for my local machines to pull
updates. If anyone has had any success and wants to share some
insights, please let me know.
thanks

How to use Cobbler Firstboot Install Trigger
by Doug Campbell
Hello,
I see that there is a "firstboot" install trigger and I am having a hard
time figuring out how to use this. I want to kickoff a trigger I wrote
AFTER the server has rebooted from a Cobbler install. What would be the
best way to go about doing this?
Thanks!

Cobbler Bug in 2.4-1
by Michael Luczkow
Hello Marcin,
Thank you for pointing out the /etc/cobbler/settings. My approach was actually to modify the pre and post python scripts that run and remove "cert" from them (using "puppet" instead of "puppetca":
/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/cobbler/modules/install_pre_puppet.py and install_post_puppet.py
Bug or not, our existing, functioning provisioning server (which was a vanilla EPEL install) stopped functioning when cobbler was updated to 2.4.4-1.
Cheers!

Hi Michael,
This is not a bug. You can set a path for puppet binary.
Just edit puppetca_path: "/usr/bin/puppet" in your /etc/cobbler/settings.

Re: [cobbler] Using Cobbler to mirror Ubuntu repos
by Nagy-Egri Máté Ferenc
2 weeks ago I wrote to the list about creating custom Ubuntu repos, but noone answered. I would LOVE to give you feedback, however I am still stuck at the installation, where the Ubuntu installer at the very end is complaining about not finding the kernel to install. I was told it is most likely due to the version mismatch of the installer, and the provided kernel for install. I have not found a neat way to keep these 2 in sync, so I have not gotten to a point where I could test my locally hosted ubuntu repo that I wish to use with a cluster that has no internet access.
I create my repo with the command:
sudo cobbler repo add --name=local-14.04-x86_64 --breed=apt --arch=x86_64 --mirror=http://hu.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu --apt-components="main main/debian-installer restricted restricted/debian-installer universe universe/debian-installer multiverse multiverse/debian-installer" --apt-dists="trusty trusty-updates trusty-security" --yumopts="--verbose --ignore-release-gpg"
but as I said, I could not test it yet.
Let me know how you get along!

Cobbler Bug in 2.4-1
by Michael Luczkow
Dear List,
Cobbler tries to execute "puppetca cert clean HOSTNAME" when instead it should be trying to either "puppetca clean HOSTNAME" or "puppet cert clean HOSTNAME"
Initial cleaning and post signing do not function because of this.
