Hi, Don't know if this last post made it. I've narrowed it down to something in the network_config, pre and post SNIPPETS. I have seen bug report 1117640 however no data is missing as in that case, I've done a cobbler system getks and all the data is there as far as I can tell. I pulled all three SNIPPETs out and replaced them with the proper network kickstart line and the error about an illegal IP address string is gone. The install has other issues but that's not this problem. So it's something in the network SNIPPETs that is causing the illegal IP address string error when trying to install CentOS 7. Cobbler on CentOS 7

Hi All, Wondering if anyone is running cobblerd on CentOS 7? It seems that the debmirror package isn't available and running cobbler check doesn't seem to know what distribution it's running on, can't check httpd (even though it's in the path 2 : Unknown distribution type, cannot check for running service cobblerd 3 : file /etc/xinetd.d/rsync does not exist 4 : Apache (httpd) is not installed and/or in path 5 : debmirror package is not installed, it will be required to manage debian deployments and repositories Thoughts? cobbler reposync over high latency connections is failing a *lot* - suggestions?

Folks; We are finding that cobbler reposync fails pretty predictably despite a high number of --tries (5) across high latency links. Does anyone have any suggestions for mitigating this? It's really killing us as we need our repositories to be reliable. kickstart syntax error

Hi. Been pounding my head for a week on this one. Have cobbler 2.6.8 on CentOS 7 trying to install 7 which used to work. So somebody changed something. I'm getting the very unhelpful This kickstart had errors that prevented it from ... The only thing I can find in cobbler.log, just prior to the meaningless stack dumps, is the word 'gateway' on a line by itself. The last time anything remotely like this happen was around the time of CentOS 6.5 when someone removed the use of the if_gateway variable from the network_config snippet I think it was. That was gone but I see it's back now. I've narrowed the problem down to something in the pre_install_network_config snippet. Still haven't found out exactly where. But whenever I put the snippet reference it the kickstart an install or a getks or a validateks all fail. Sadly my cheetah isn't good enough yet to go and instrument this thing to find out much more. I can say the the cobbler system add I run from a series of scripts does add clients using the --gateway switch giving it a valid ipv4 address. I can see the gateway variable properly set in a dumpvars of any of the systems. Not using ipv6. Anyone run into this at all? Is there another switch I should be using. Chris

when two network interfaces have same mac address

Hi All: when I reinstall os by cobbler on one machine which network interfaces config to bonding 0, I saw this error: https://github.com/cobbler/cobbler/issues/1478 I don't know why one network interfaces do not restore to original mac after reboot ; final , I unplug one network interface and all work well. and is there other way resolve this problem ? and is there a way to echo friendly error message? like “opps! your network interface has same mac address , please check.” thank you

SLES 11 SP3 with Bootable Driver Kit - unable to fetch image error.

Hi, I'm trying to install SLES 11 SP3 using Cobbler but it failed after downloading the NBP file. The error on the screen is Unable to fetch TFTP image. I have a similiar setup for SLES 11 SP2 and it is working fine. The difference with this setup is I am installing SLES 11 SP3 on a IBM x3500 M5 server, which requires a bootable driver kit(BDK) to be installed prior to the installation of the OS itself. My setup is as follows: /var/lib/tftpboot> tree uefisp3 uefisp3 ├── biostest ├── bootx64.efi ├── elilo.conf ├── initrd ├── linux ├── memtest ├── message └── pxelinux.0 The initrd and linux is not from the SLES DVD, but from the BDK image. Quoting from https://drivers.suse.com/doc/Usage/Driver_Kits.html: Copy the kernel and initrd images from the driver kit iso image to the appropriate location on your tftp boot server. The initrd and kernel image are found under the /boot/x86_64/loader directory. I have tried changing the /etc/cobbler/dhcp.template by pointing the filename to uefisp3/bootx64.efi, pxelinux.0 and uefisp3/pxelinux.0 but none of them work. In /var/log/messages there is an error "tftp: client does not accept options", which from what I read is most likely not relevant to the issue that I'm facing now. What is a way to support lanplus power_type for cobbler tasks ?
