It doesn't require Openstack knowledge really as it is a standalone thing if you choose to run it that way. You just need a box to act as conductor and database I think.also it's packaged, like the rest of Openstack, by every major Linux vendor. You just have to add the repo (eg. RDO for Centosย  / Fedora.

It's all python code shipping system images :). Just throwing it out there since you seemed to be unhappy with what Cobbler had to offer in this regard.
