Stuff That CommOps Helps With: 5tftw

Every week mattdm publishes his series "5 Things In Fedora This Week."

It is a *really* awesome regular feature on Fedora Magazine, and a great
way to get out the big news of the week to the community at large. This
list is *artisinally* crafted by the FPL himself (I know because I've been
watching him diligently do it each week since I got here.)
This is one of those parts of Fedora that falls *squarely* into our "Things
CommOps Helps With" bucket.
*Mission*: Add "5tftw" to the Commops Wiki page toolbox section, and point
to Fedora Magazine as a link. In the description, indicate that if folks
want to contribute, there are only 2 requirements: The "Thing" needs at
least ONE link, and can have a maximum of 5 sentences of descriptive text.
To contribute send your "Thing" to the CommOps mailing list, and in the
subject line 5tftw and the Date of the Friday of the week you want to
publish your "thing" on. (e.g. 5tftw 10/30/15)

[CommOps] NLP-related tasks : Ideas

Hi,
Here are a few suggestions for NLP-related tasks :
1. Analyse Fedora IRC Channel conversations to find expertise of
contributors.
i.e. Contributors hang out in different IRC channels and have different
domains of expertise (sometimes channel-specific or not). Analyse IRC
conversations to find out areas of expertise of contributor. Could be
helpful in finding the "right person" for the task/mentoring/problem
solving.(especially for newcomers/ tasks outside a specific team)
2. Sentiment Analysis to find which application needs most help/development
, what are users mostly contributing on , which tasks are relatively
tougher and need senior contributors to work on them.
These are just some rough ideas which I think would be helpful. Please add
more to the list or tell me your inputs/suggestions on these .

hackivist at Open Labs. I'm
passionate about philosophy of Open Source, i believe in
transparency and cooperation, open and free Internet. Lately i have been
working on promoting FLOSS in Albania and I'm very passionate about
programming, i already know HTML, JS and a bit of Python

Fedora Outreachy 2015

Hello!
My name is Silva Arapi, I come from Albania. I am part of Open Labs
Hackerspace <http://openlabs.cc/>, a community who promotes Free Libre Open
Source Software in Albania. It's been almost a month now, since I got
involved in the group who promotes and contributes in the Fedora Project.
It has been an amazing month, with many events that we have organized and I
have learned way much more about fedora, and feel more confident about the
contribution that I can give for the Fedora Project.
I would like to apply for the Outreachy Program and be part of Community
Operations project. More specifically I would like to work with web testing
and bug reporting or content development. I know HTML5, CSS3, JQuery and
JavaScript and also have some experience with WordPress and Joomla! I will
be waiting for more information on how should I proceed to get involved to
the program.

Zach,
I'm forwarding this to the CommOps mailing list, where I know there are
some new contributors looking for wiki tasks :)
AFAIK, you can just log-in with your FAS account and edit the wiki, unless
this page is restricted to be editable by only certain accounts (in which
case, it may not help to post this to the CommOps list, but it is a
learning experience for everyone eitherway.)

I am happy to announce that Fedora Developer Portal is going to be released
SOON.
Hopefully this week. Official web address is going to be

Official ticket on Fedora infrastructure is here [1]. Thanks to kevin from
Fedora Infrastructure team.
Developing instance is located here [2].
*Fedora developer portal:*
The aim of the portal is to give an overview about important development
tools and projects in Fedora (like Docker, Vagrant, DevAssistant).
Focus is targeted on beginners, advanced users and developers.
*Who will use the portal?*
Fedora developer portal shows users how to develop on Fedora easily, and of
course introduces them to new projects and tools that are available in
Fedora.
Fedora users will have and overview about:
- new technologies
- available developer languages
- projects released in each Fedora release cycle
- import tools in Fedora (like Docker, Vagrant, DevAssistant, etc.)
- other tools which can be used for development

Hello.
My name is Mohammed Rafy .
I've been part of various open source organizations like Mozilla , FSMK ,
contributing by community management and event planning.
I'm a Ubuntu user and i'm not much too much in to coding but i know all
most everything of what i know like web development ..
So yes , I have known fedora for almost 2-3 years from now , and i also
have used during my college times , but i wasn't knowing about contribution
phase .
