Self Introduction
by Huiren Woo
Hey there,
I'm one of few active Ambassadors from Singapore. Currently still studying
Information Technology with a major in Infocomm Sales and Marketing. I've
been an Ambassador for a few months so I'm still relatively inexperience.
I would like to write about Fedora and FOSS related events and meetups
happening here in Singapore. There is currently one upcoming event named
FOSSASIA 2016 and I would love to write about it. Please grant me author
privilege for common ops.
Thank you!

Hi Jan, I'd be happy to serve as a volunteer from FAmNA Ambassadors.
Although it definitely would be a good idea for some of the other
regions to have representatives as well if there are others who will be
around for the meeting. :)
I can also help serve as a representative of Marketing / Magazine
(having a Magazine post in place for the announcement is definitely a
*must*), as well as Community Operations. I am sure others from both
teams will be in attendance, but I can confirm I'll be there to
represent from those two teams as well.
Thanks for spreading the word about this!

The reason why I am so desperate for contributing is that I love writing contents and designing web apps.

Hi Anubha, welcome to the Fedora GSoC 2016 mailing list!
Sounds like you are following the instructions on the GSoC page for
applying to Fedora so far. Awesome! You're on the right track so far for
getting your application in.
I'm a mentor for CommOps, but not a GSoC administrator, so I'm not sure
if it's possible for you to apply for two different things at once.
However, if both projects seem very interesting to you, I would
recommend going for the CommOps slot as there is likely to be some
overlap with CommOps to Fedora Hubs, whereas Hubs would be a much more
directed and focused project.
Applications are open from yesterday until next Friday (March 25) if I
recall correctly. If you haven't already, check out this post on the
Fedora Community Blog announcing GSoC 2016.
https://communityblog.fedoraproject.org/fedora-accepted-google-summer-of-...
There's a lot of links and info on that blog post too that you may find
useful. If you haven't already, your next step should be to begin
creating your application for GSoC 2016 on the wiki. Once you do this,
you should send the link to your application back to this list.
Hope this helps answer some of your questions. Let me know if you have
more questions! Looking forward to getting to know you!

[Fedocal] Reminder meeting : Budget Adjustment/Allocation
by Viorel Tabara
Dear all,
You are kindly invited to the meeting:
Budget Adjustment/Allocation on 2016-03-15 from 12:00:00 to 13:00:00 UTC
At fedora-commops(a)irc.freenode.net
The meeting will be about:
* Fiscal Year: *FY17*
* Responsible: *Council → Regions/Subprojects*
**Note:**
The "→" above indicates that responsibility for that item feeds into a next step in responsibility; for example, regional treasurers are responsible for providing the FCL with the relevant information for their region, and the FCL is responsible for the general report to the community. Likewise, the Council is responsible for any top-level budget adjustment when the final budget comes in from our sponsor, and regions responsible to update accordingly if needed.

Fwd: Reminder: Flock submission deadline Apr 8

Perhaps someone would be interested in making a CommBlog post copying

we'll forward a link to social-media list too.

Subject: Reminder: Flock submission deadline Apr 8
To: "Planning discussion for Flock (Fedora Contributor Conference)"
<flock-planning(a)lists.fedoraproject.org>, Development discussions
related to Fedora <devel(a)lists.fedoraproject.org>
Howdy,
This is a friendly reminder that the Flock submission deadline is less
than a month away, on April 8th 2016. If you have been thinking of
submitting a talk or workshop, now would be a great time to get that
sent in.
The Council is particularly interested in talks that address any of
the current Council Objectives:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Objectives
as well as discussions around new Objectives people would like to see.
Of course, innovation happens outside of Fedora itself and we'd love
to hear about that as well. If you've been using Fedora as a
foundation for other interesting Free and Open Source software and/or
community work, consider submitting a talk or workshop around it.
Remember, without your contributions we cannot have Flock. Let's work
together to make it great.
josh

* This ticket is open for anyone to claim and start working on. The
idea is that we have a recommended "format" for Ambassadors to use
for writing event reports of places that they represent Fedora at.
This is a *great* task for someone who wants to get involved and
either has experience as a Fedora Ambassador or going to other
events as open source representatives. If this interests you, ask to

wants to get involved. Ticket looks at mailing list activity in
Fedora with fedmsg and tries to try conclusions from that data. If
this interests you, ask to claim this ticket at Open Floor or on the

CommOps. 2016 is the Year of Python in Fedora! If you have
experience with working on Python in Fedora, your input is needed
and valued for this ticket for helping come up with ideas and points
about why working on Python in Fedora makes your life easier. If
this interests you, ask to help on this ticket at Open Floor or on

* Justin (jflory7) and Ryan (masetrax) have been collaborating over
email on this ticket; masetrax will become the new owner and is
looking at bringing the Trac wiki page "up to date" for 2016. Thanks

New to CommOps
by Jessica Mack
Hi, my name is Jessica (I also go by Jess) and I'd like to work with CommOps.
My interests are web scraping, documentation, analytics, web development, and security.
This is my first time working with Fedora, though not open source. I have made contributions to Wikipedia and Ceph.
I'm an active member of my local branch of Code for America, and a fan of FOSS conferences.
I look forward to working with you all!
