Pycon 2016 Wiki page
by Tim Apple
Hey Everyone,
I created the basic PyCon 2016 wiki page
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/PyCon_2016#Site
I am new to editing the wiki so it's not fancy. I have to learn still.
But hopefully it's a good start. I basically took PyCon 2015 and
modified Links, Changed the dates, inserted links to Hotels and linked
to team members known to be attending.
Please review and let me know what I should add or edit.
Cheers,
Tim Apple

Improving communication about design process
by Justin W. Flory
Hello Design team!
Earlier this month, mizmo put in some feedback about a discussion
happening on the CommOps Trac, regarding communication about the process
for requesting artwork / design assets for Ambassadors, from the Design
team.
https://fedorahosted.org/fedora-commops/ticket/71
I penned this wiki page a bit ago as a "draft" to help break down the
process and document what is expected / desired / wished for when
Ambassadors contact the Design Team about printing or creating new
assets or printed material.
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Ambassadors/Design
Before working on socializing this page across the project, I was hoping
to receive some more input from Design team members about this page and
if it meets expectations and aligns to what you all wish to see in the
communications between both sub-projects.
Ideally, a lot of this will be alleviated as well in the distant future
with the creation of FOSCo and new tools like Fedora Hubs, but in the
meanwhile, hopefully documenting the process for current and future
Ambassadors before this time will be helpful. This outline may also be a
useful resource for future groups that come along as well.
Please let me know what you think, and feel free to add any edits as you
all see fit. Thanks for your time!

we will use for collecting information and feedback about how marketing
team members felt about how we did this release.

FedoraMag Wordpress Blog API
by Arvind Chembarpu
Hey everyone,
I'm Arvind, and I'm working as a Fedora QA Intern, with Sudhir D (Fedora QA Manager) at Red Hat Bangalore.
I was working on a hub to view all Fedora news in a seamless interface, and I was hoping to use the default Wordpress API to accomplish this.
However, it looks like the API has been disabled manually, since all the endpoints under `http://fedoramagazine.org/wp-json/v2/` and `http://fedoramagazine.org/wp-json/` are returning 404 error statuses.
Would it be possible to re-enable these? If not, could you point me towards another way to obtain FedoraMagazine post links?
Cheers,

F24 CommOps retrospective
by Justin W. Flory
Hey all,
As mentioned in our last meeting, we wanted to put together a short
retrospective about how we did this past release cycle as a team, what
worked well, how we could improve, and more.
To read more about the *what* of a retrospective, please see this page.
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/CommOps_retrospective
I created the page for the F24 CommOps retrospective, which you can find
here.
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/F24_CommOps_retrospective
I used the Marketing retrospective template as the base for creating our
own. If you want to see an example of a completed / filled out
retrospective, see this one from Marketing as an example.
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/2015_marketing_retrospective
Regardless of who you are or how much you contributed this release
cycle, if you have any thoughts or feedback for how CommOps could
improve or do better for this release and beyond, please consider adding
in a few words or snippets to this page. It will be extremely helpful
for planning out what we do this next release and helping improve the
experience for new contributors.
Thanks all!

[Minutes] [2016-06-28] Best wishes to decause, postponing vFAD, focusing on Flock, on-boarding, and more
by Justin W. Flory
Hey all, started doing this in some other meeting minutes and thought I
would start here too. I'll do a brief written summary of the meeting,
and you can get the rest of the details in the links or minutes below!
Today's meeting featured 13 participants and lasted about a 1hr 20min.
We sent our best wishes out to decause as he begins his new journey in
the FOSS world. We also covered topics like our vFAD and planning for
the CommOps workshop at Flock. We have decided to postpone our vFAD and
refocus efforts on planning the Flock workshop in August. We also
covered the next steps for helping sub-projects / teams with their
on-boarding process. CommOps should be closing out soon, and Modularity
is up next.
See more about what happened today below!

* IDEA: A series about contributors and their experiences in the
project, how they got involved, to get involved, and so on. This
could be a recurring series on the Community Blog, similar to to the
"How do you Fedora?" series on the Magazine. (jflory7_, 16:56:36)

* IDEA: I wanted to borrow something from the Marketing release
schedule for CommOps. At the end of every Fedora release, the
Marketing team writes a retrospective about how they felt things
went during the release, what worked well, what didn't work so well,
what can be improved, things that were awesome and worth noting,
etc. I'd like to do something similar to this for CommOps to see how
we, as contributors, felt about how this release went. (jflory7_,

* ACTION: jflory7 Work on getting a wiki page created for the CommOps
F23 retrospective (jflory7_, 17:03:46)
* ACTION: skamath Work on generating data from CommOps contributions
and shaping interpretations from the data for the retrospective (cc:

Friends. Features. Freedom. First. Forever.

Fedorans,
When I packed up my entire life and moved to fair Rollywood this past
January to be closer to Red Hat Tower and dive head-first into this
role as the first ever Fedora Community Action and Impact Lead, it was
an absolute dream for me. Every day, I'm working with some of the most
talented, motivated, brilliant hackers, designers, and volunteers that
build and ship the operating system at the core of my digital
existence--not to mention much of the enterprises and infrastructure
around the world. The scale of problems, and the speed at which we are
solving them, is still absolutely mind-blowing to me.
I love my job.
I love my team.
I love the Fedora Community.
I love Red Hat.
Wholeheartedly.
Thank you, all of you.
Never did I imagine there would ever be another opportunity that could
sway me from this path, which I flipped my life upside down to
pursue... but then I got
the call...
Things are moving quickly, and I don't have all the details yet, but
it looks like I'm going to be the first ever Open Source Campaign
Manager for the next President of the United States, Hillary Clinton.
I have to be at campaign HQ in Brooklyn NY ready to hit the ground
running on Monday.
I will be spending my last 24 hours as a Red Hatter flipping my entire
life upside down, again, and I wanted to give the community one last
window to ping me with any outstanding business or questions, and
direct you to the appropriate channels thereafter.
After tomorrow, I'm going to be packing up and moving to Brooklyn to
work 8 days a week until roughly Thanksgiving ;)
In my absence, here is a list of points of contact for FCL business
(cc'd above,) until my replacement arrives.
For all things related to:
- Fedora Council, Matthew Miller: mattdm(a)fedoraproject.org
- Fedora Budget, Events, and ambassadors, Joe Brockmeier: jzb(a)redhat.com
- Fedora Engineering/Infrastructure, Paul Frields: pfrields(a)fedoraproject.org
- Community Operations/CommBlog/Mktg/Misc, the Community Operations
Team: commops(a)lists.fedoraproject.org
I know the timing is less than ideal, with Red Hat Summit next week,
and Flock in August, but, I believe this position will bring the most
visibility to the work and principles that Red Hat, Fedora, and the
FOSS community stand for.
I find strength, purpose, and peace in these words of George Bernard Shaw:
"...I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the whole community,
and as long as I live it is my privilege to do for it whatever I can.
...Life is no "brief candle" for me. It is a sort of splendid torch
which I have got hold of for the moment, and I want to make it burn as
brightly as possible before handing it on to future generations."
This is one of those "once in a lifetime" moments in our history, and
if the Free and Open Source Software Movement can be part of that,
then I'm willing to answer the call.
Happy Hacking,
--RemyD.
