[Minutes] [2017-02-14] Event reports, EDU roster, FOSS Student Pack
by Justin W. Flory
Hey all! Thought I sent this before my laptop battery died on Tuesday,
but I found this in my drafts folder… sorry for the delay in sending this.
This meeting was mostly setting the tone for some of our upcoming tasks.
We identified four tickets we want to focus on for the next month or two
(some, probably longer):
* #21 (Ambassadors - Event Report Template)
* #43 (EDU Roster)
* #62 (Wiki gardening of Fedora Join)
* #70 (FOSS Student Pack)
More info can be found in the minutes below.

* Eduard Lucena, From Venezuela. Marketing, Ambassadors and Magazine /
Classroom Program (x3mboy, 17:47:48)
* IDEA: While #68 (Reconstructing the Campus Ambassadors program and
campus outreach) may be a difficult task to work on with regards to
possible changes to the structure of the Ambassador program,
building community resources and infrastructure to support a
university outreach campaign is something that could be effective
for us to work on in prep for what's happening in other areas of the
project. (jwf, 17:59:42)
* IDEA: While #44 (Talking Points: EDU) is a Marketing task and should
be relocated to their ticket tracker, #43 (EDU Roster) could be a
great topic for us to work on to assist the upcoming plans by other
groups in Fedora related to university outreach. (jwf, 18:00:59)
* LINK: https://education.github.com/pack (meskarune, 18:06:07)
* AGREED: Next four tickets we will focus on addressing are #21

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Join at the top of the page for a
quick overview (jwf, 18:23:14)
* LINK: https://i.imgur.com/FqbMohk.png (jwf, 18:27:57)
* ACTION: jwf Add bulletpoint list with a quick summary of each major
area to the top of fp.o/wiki/Join page, close ticket #62 when
completed (jwf, 18:34:31)
* === Ticket #43: "EDU Roster" === (jwf, 18:34:41)
* LINK: https://pagure.io/fedora-commops/issue/43 (jwf, 18:34:42)
* This ticket aims to try to build a "directory" or a "contact book"
of Fedora contributors who are actively engaged or involved with
universities, high schools, or other education-related institutions
across the world. The intent was for these people to be contacted
once efforts begin materializing for the marketing campaign and
talking points, so that people from mixed cultures and backgrounds
are able to give feedback early in the process. (jwf, 18:34:54)
* A start was made to this, but it lives in a hard-to-find place and
is probably no longer accurate. (jwf, 18:34:56)

the best way to store and host a "directory" or database of Fedora
contributors actively involved with EDU efforts (jwf, 18:52:17)
* Community Blog (jwf, 18:53:18)

are being drafted. After the information blast, the floor is opened
for any Community Blog-related discussion. Here we go! (jwf,

[Fedocal] Reminder meeting : Final Quarter Budget Report
by viorel@fedoraproject.org
Dear all,
You are kindly invited to the meeting:
Final Quarter Budget Report on 2017-02-15 from 12:00:00 to 13:00:00 UTC
At fedora-commops(a)irc.freenode.net
The meeting will be about:
* Fiscal Year: *FY17*
* Responsible: *Regional Treasurers → FCL*
**Note:**
The "→" above indicates that responsibility for that item feeds into a next step in responsibility; for example, regional treasurers are responsible for providing the FCL with the relevant information for their region, and the FCL is responsible for the general report to the community. Likewise, the Council is responsible for any top-level budget adjustment when the final budget comes in from our sponsor, and regions responsible to update accordingly if needed.

[fedora-commops] Issue #88 `Metrics for Release Parties`
by Justin W. Flory
jflory7 added a new comment to an issue you are following:
``
@cprofitt To the first point, I think this is something being addressed in the regional hubs idea for Fedora Hubs by @shillman! I haven't followed the discussion too much recently, but I think the idea of making it easier to _find_ Fedora events in the area would be something addressed by the regional hub feature.
As for points 2 and 3, this would be nice to have too. I'm wondering if this is something we could pitch to Hubs or if we'd want to consider other options.

[fedora-commops] Issue #88 `Metrics for Release Parties`
by Charles Profitt
cprofitt added a new comment to an issue you are following:
``
Reading this ticket makes me think about the loco.ubuntu.com site that listed Local Team events and meetings.
http://loco.ubuntu.com/events/
I think the idea of allowing people to register a 'Fedora' event would allow for the following:
1. People to search for events in their area
2. People to 'check-in' at the event (badges)
3. Give anonymous feedback to event organizers to help improve future events
Combining this type of system with something similar to meetup would help.

[fedora-commops] Issue #102 ` Improving Fedora Elections Process: Nomination process`
by Pagure
cprofitt reported a new issue against the project: `fedora-commops` that you are following:
``
These ideas were taken from ticket #90; the focus of this ticket is the nomination process.
---- ideas from #90 ----
* automating communications with nominees
- verify that they are accepting nomination
- communicate the 'campaign' process (ie., interview on commops, etc)
* use the same tool as the election tool or automate the creation of the ballot to avoid FAS name errors
* way to determine what teams would like to hold elections
