So Marie and I discussed this, and we would consider writing another article for the Magazine in the future. For now we'd like to go ahead and publish the artcile as is to the Commops blog, only changing: We may want to revamp the text for the actual post by adding something like… These badges are still up for grabs! Try designing one of the following badges and we will help you through the process. to These badges are still up for grabs! I did not succeed in changing it myself, but basically it's just getting rid of the 1st sentence - apologies for letting it through.

And we might want a different bent to the article if it's going out to
the public.  The article right now is fantastic, but definitely aimed
at current community members.  If we want to do a Magazine article
featuring badges, it should probably lay more basic information out to
start.  I would advise going ahead with this on the Commblog, and we
can always work with you on the Magazine list for a different article
that introduces badges as a way to start contributing.

Paul, thank you so much for feedback! Marie and I are going to discuss this today and probably go forward with the Commops article.
