That is a good point Neville, but maybe use both metrics and try to
discern if there are regional vice global spikes in a particular list /
topic or region.

I will be curious of what is the activity peak time for a mailing list
no mater of contributor time zone. Some social media manager look for
that peak time to post things, because it is more likely to get people
to engage. As a parallel, one fresh email on top just some minutes ago
versus some email that has been covered by many other emails from other
lists and spam. Maybe it is just me that feel that curiosity. I think
if activity is separated by each mailing list and time zones, there
will be no much clusters.
Just my opinion, it can be disregarded.
