Hi everyone! Michael Downey here -- I'm a long-time supporter of free & open source software, and Fedora user for the past several years. I've been looking forward to contributing for quite a while. I've been doing open source community stuff since 2009, most recently with OpenMRS, an open source Health IT platform, and since the end of may, helping with the launch the new LibreHealth community.
Because of the new wiki anti-spam process that started this weekend, [0] I'm not able to set up a personal homepage there yet, but you can find me around the web and on IRC as "downey". While I'm eager to "chip in" wherever I can around here once I learn more about what's needed, with my background I'm extra interested in Messaging, Hubs, Wiki, Culture, & Metrics (as listed on the CommOps "Join" wiki page that I can't yet edit.) ;-)
I'm working on my badges [1] already and hope to see some of you in the #fedora-commops IRC meeting this Tuesday. Nice to "meet" you all!
Cheers, Michael

Hey Michael!
Welcome to Fedora! :)

That's fantastic! Your skill set and experience will definitely be able to help out the Fedora community!
Here at Fedora CommOps, we're a good mix of Community + DevOps, providing tools to the community that allows them to advocate what we do and tell stories. We even have a community blog [1] where folks tell amazing stories on Fedora events they helped to organize. On top of that, we help bridge communities to the different parts (eg: design team) of the Fedora community to help push various cool stuff, eg: badges request, etc.
Hope to see you in the meeting too! :)

Hi Michael! Took me a little longer than I wanted to circle back around to this. :)
Welcome aboard to CommOps! It sounds like you're no newcomer to open source, and there's definitely plenty of ways we could use your help across the project and CommOps. I didn't know something like LibreHealth existed, I'll have to go give it a look. :)
I think you should be all set when it comes the wiki page now that you're sponsored into the FAS group. If you have any other problems, just let us know.
You're already off to a hot start with the Magazine article! Looking forward to seeing what else we accomplish together. Welcome again!

Hello Michael,
sorry for the late reply, I was into my day job.
Good to hear about OpenMRS, you might have also know about the Open patient (https://www.redhat.com/en/open-source-stories/open-patient)

Yes, I have watched several of the videos done on these projects, and somewhat familiar with the OpenNotes project. IMHO there's going to be a huge increase in FOSS projects for health IT & healthcare management as resources continue to be stretched. So it's great to see people supporting their development!
Cheers, Michael
