tar.gz archives cannot be unpacked with this error:

gzip: /builddir/build/SOURCES/MUMPS_5.0.1.tar.gz: unexpected end of file
/bin/tar: Exiting with failure status due to previous errors
RPM build errors:
error: Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.39gzzd (%prep)

This does not happen on koji or in local.

The gzip'ed tarball [1] was really broken (so both gzip and tar complains
are fair).  Are you sure that the tarball was correctly created?  Or was
it improperly extracted from src.rpm?

So you claim all those [1] MUMPS_5.0.1.tar.gz files (all having different
checksums) come from the identical src.rpm?

Yes.

- src rpm has been uploaded on copr --> errors in all branches
- upload tried again --> errors in all branches
- same src rpm tested with rpmbuild and koji --> no errors

I downloaded another tarball from upstream, created src rpm:

- upload on copr -->  errors in all branches
- same src rpm tested with rpmbuild and koji --> no errors

Tested again today from external link with SRPM and by src rpm
uploading, tarball extraction works.

Probably, they were flawed src-rpms; the problem does not happen anymore.
