Fedora CoreOS rebasing to Fedora 32: features and known issues

Over the next two day's we're planning to release and rollout the first Fedora 33 based FCOS into the `stable` stream. New features include: - shipping fwupd - the ability to configure/use swap on ZRAM Some notable issues/configurations: - SSH may start to fail to connect in some configurations [0] - Systems with local SELinux policy modifications may need to be recovered [1] - Log aggregators may need to handle new journald log formatting [2] - systemd-resolved is enabled but not used yet [3] Thanks to everyone who participated in the test day [4] and to everyone that run the `testing` and `next` streams to help us identify and fix issues before they get to `stable`. Docker/Moby 20.10.0 has been released with cgroup v2 support

Hey all, It seems that Docker/Moby 20.10.0 has been released last week. With this release, Docker/Moby now fully supports cgroup v2, which means Fedora CoreOS can finally switch to cgroup v2 like the rest of Fedora has since Fedora 31. There seems to be a rather drastic change to Docker/Moby, though. The docker/docker-ce repo has been retired and will be archived[1]. It seems packaging is going to be significantly different, since the individual components need to be orchestrated to be built now. The docker/cli[2] and moby/moby[3] repos have been tagged. We seem to already have sufficiently updated containerd and runc already, so it seems the packaging for moby-engine needs to be restructured to deal with the new method of building and shipping it. I figured it'd be worth sending an email because the docker-ce repo isn't getting tagged and I am unsure if the infrastructure would have picked up this change and notified anybody. Hopefully we can get Docker/Moby 20.10.0 into Fedora soon and have Fedora CoreOS switch to cgroup v2. Fedora CoreOS contributors -- do you need ARM hardware?

Hey all. We have a program to help get Fedora OS more broadly tested on ARM hardware. While Fedora IoT is the main focus, we also have some budget to supply small devices directly to project contributors who are working on Fedora CoreOS. If this would help you, let me know (off-list). I'll need your shipping address and which device (or possibly devices) you could use from this list: Jetson NX Jetson Nano Pinebook Pro RockPro64 The Raspberry Pi 400 is also an option, but be aware that this is not going to be magic and smooth and probably doesn't even work right now, so I'd prefer to reserve those for people with experience in hardware enablement. -- Matthew Miller <mattdm(a)fedoraproject.org> Fedora Project Leader

November Fedora CoreOS update for the Fedora Council
