Just as an anecdote.

We are still using "old" CoreOS as base OS for Mesosphere DC/OS stack, with excellent results.
Now I learned that it has become officially unsupported, surely because now CoreOS is in a kind of no man's land.

We hope that it will become soon a solid and well defined product, to use as modern OS for Mesos, K8s and other container platform.

Bye

Hey Thomas,

Unfortunately we don't have a good story for installing K8S on Fedora
CoreOS right now. Some people have done it themselves, but we don't have
any published or recommended way to do it right now. We have concentrated
on getting the OS out the door and now we can start to bite off some of
these higher level goals.

Here is an issue you can follow where we are having discussions about this
topic: https://github.com/coreos/fedora-coreos-tracker/issues/93
