However some members of fedora-infra would like to see this go through Council first. There is some sense on this as this is kind of new way of distribution of Fedora (beside Spins, Remixs...). It creates all docker images directly on DockerHub so technically speaking they are not created in Fedora infrastructure, but they are created under Fedora account. And we would like to market it as "Fedorea + Copr" or similar. #22: Objective Proposal: University Involvement ----------------------+------------------- Reporter: sgallagh | Owner: Status: new | Priority: normal Component: General | Keywords: ----------------------+------------------- I alluded to this during the Council meeting on Monday, so I'm going to attempt to turn this into a formal proposal. == Objective: University Involvement == === Overview === Increase Fedora's exposure in university environments, particularly engineering universities. === Expected Impact === Increased user base with a specific focus on future contributors. === Timeframe === For maximum effect, if we elect to work towards this Objective, we should kick it into gear at the beginning of the summer with the intent of having events planned during the 2015-2016 school year. === Aspects === * Coordinate marketing, ambassador and outreach groups to focus on university needs * Work with universities to provide install-fests during student orientation periods * Work with universities to regularly run Fedora-focused hackfests * Work with university IT departments to co-maintain one or more Fedora computer labs (and help them upgrade them during breaks) * Establish work-study, co-op and for-credit programs at universities === Metrics === * Increased contributions from university programs * Increased bug reports and feature requests * Increased mind-share among potential contributors (not easily measured) === Additional Notes === Some prototypes of this have been performed at Brno universities over the last few years, with very positive results. We should coordinate with the contributors involved in those efforts and learn from their successes and failures. There is also a University Outreach program run by Red Hat's "Open Source and Standards" department which was involved in the RIT partnership from which we eventually acquired Remy DeCausemaker. Most of the time these internships are unpaid, and not a full time one. In the case of completion of the internship, they need a certificate letter explaining their work, printed on a formal looking pad. I need permission from council to create one such pad design with help from design team, and then use it to provide certificate to any such student who will help Fedora project. Certificates are must in most of the colleges, and that is why many of the students can not work on anything related to FOSS projects. By allowing this, we can start getting more contributors from the colleges (in India and other similar places). How to measure success of the internship work? We will make sure that the student understand, and work with upstream Fedora community only. This way each subproject can actually measure the impact of the work from the students. Budget requested for G11N FAD 2015

Hi Council members, Globalization is definitely important but in recent FUDCon APAC 2015 it further strengthen this point when couple of people (Tibet and Marathi) requested for localized version of Fedora to increase Fedora adoption in there reason. To complete few long pending task and plan for future development Fedora G11N group has proposed FAD. [1] We are discussing this idea from last 3 months. Most of the things now are in shape. AFAIK in Fedora history we never had any FAD targeting G11N. I believe G11N FAD will show community Fedora's interest in globalization and can help to get community of users and developers from non-english speaking countries. Proposed budget is $7000 (Travel+Social Event). We are optimistic to get Stay sponsorship from Red Hat G11N group and also thinking to manage local cost from attendees own pocket. One more plus point this FAD is just happening after OpenStack summit At Tokyo [2], so there is chance to get some more contribution/attendees for it. Please guide us for how we can further improve our FAD and also let us know if we can get budget approval for same. Enforcing the code of conduct

Hello all, While organising the recent FUDCon in Pune we included a code of conduct, similar to the previous Flocks and other conferences worldwide. I was wondering if we have any mechanisms in place where we can blacklist someone if indeed there was a violation. I'm thinking of a Fedora project specific blacklist as well as a shared blacklist for major conferences worldwide. The CoC would be pretty useless if there's no way to ban (from future gatherings) someone indulging in activities unwelcome to the project. Also, we should include what steps we would take as a project depending on the nature of the violation in the CoC text itself. If we already have such a mechanism in place, please point me to it. This February we resurrected a project called "Fedora Bootstrap", that was started approximately 4-5 years ago. We requested an authorized logo since the former one didn't follow the trademark guidelines and then wanted to announce the project as Fedora affiliated, but according to Kevin Fenzi and Matthew Miller there might be a problem with the project name itself as it contains the word "Fedora". The purpose of the project is to cure Fedora specific bootstrap issues and it can not be used for other distros. Therefore changing the name just because of the legal stuff seems insane to me. Matt adviced me to request trademark permission here.
