#21: Permission for using Fedora trademarks for "Bantuan Fedora Indonesia"

Some Indonesian contributors are working on utilizing [https://github.com
/fedora-id/asknot-ng asknot-ng] for providing a landing page for users
(and potential users) to get a clear picture of localized Fedora resources
and potential ways of contributing .
The main Fedora instance of asknot-ng powers
[http://whatcanidoforfedora.org/ What Can I Do For Fedora]; for ours we
have not decided yet what domain we will use.
To generate the static site from the code on GitHub, the original
instructions apply, but use this invocation instead:
````
./asknot-ng.py templates/index.html questions/bantuan.yml --theme fedora
````
We will probably create a substitute theme if permission to use Fedora
branding is not obtained; we plan on contributing translations for the
main site as well.
If this requires a discussion at an upcoming meeting, let me know and I'll
notify the others to attend as well. Thanks!

Flock and possible upcoming objectives: marketing upfront; internet of things
by Matthew Miller
At Flock. Terse message so I don't forget this. :)
Background: <https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Objectives>,
<http://fedoramagazine.org/lets-talk-about-fedora-project-objectives/>
Currently, the 3 Editions objective is wrapping up. That means we have
two active ones - modularization and university involvement. The
Council plan calls for 2-4, so 2 is okay, but if we want to spin up
some more, now's a good time to talk about. Two things I've heard:
* I have not gone to business school, so I don't know the terminology
here, but right now, Fedora Marketing is largely an afterthought. How
do we "sell" the thing we just made? But, it could be so much more.
How can we get more marketing involvement across the project,
*making* stories, not just making them up? Metrics: more people
across the project involved in marketing; marketing artifacts
produced at start of cycles instead of just the end; more press about
Fedora, etc.
* Internet of things. This has a lot of parts where Fedora can fit:
Fedora on devices (hello, ARM SIG!), Fedora Workstation as a devel
platform, Fedora Cloud as backend. Maybe big data, too. We have lots
of parts, but no strategy. Metrics: production of such a strategy.
Features/change requests related to IoT, possibly IoT SIG with
regular meetings...
Discuss. :)

Code of Conduct enforcement is documented here,
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Community_working_group/CoC_Enforcement
where ultimately enforcement (and possible sanction) is the
responsibility of the fedora council (board).

no meeting today
by Matthew Miller
I wasn't able to find anyone from the G11n team where the timeslot
worked, and also didn't wrangle up anyone else. So, let's just skip the
meeting today. I have slides for Flock to work on, anyway. :)

Open Floor is Open Today (8/17)
by Remy DeCausemaker
Just a last minute FYI, I'll be #startmeeting-ing for an Open Floor Meeting Today. I realize many folks are traveling/recovering from FLOCK, so if you're not able to make it, I won't be too suprised :)
Looking Forward,

[council] #37: Need permission to create and use Fedora pad to provide certificates for unpaid internship

#37: Need permission to create and use Fedora pad to provide certificates for
unpaid internship

In India many engineering colleges asks their students to work on projects
as part of internship program (sometimes as summer internship). Most of
the time these internships are unpaid, and not a full time one.
In the case of completion of the internship, they need a certificate
letter explaining their work, printed on a formal looking pad.
I need permission from council to create one such pad design with help
from design team, and then use it to provide certificate to any such
student who will help Fedora project.
Certificates are must in most of the colleges, and that is why many of the
students can not work on anything related to FOSS projects. By allowing
this, we can start getting more contributors from the colleges (in India
and other similar places).
How to measure success of the internship work?
We will make sure that the student understand, and work with upstream
Fedora community only. This way each subproject can actually measure the
impact of the work from the students. We will have at least one mentor per
student project (sometimes they might work in groups).
