[Fedocal] Reminder meeting : Council (Open Floor)
by mattdm@fedoraproject.org
Dear all,
You are kindly invited to the meeting:
Council (Open Floor) on 2017-08-30 from 09:00:00 to 10:00:00 US/Eastern
At fedora-meeting(a)irc.freenode.net
The meeting will be about:
The Fedora Council will hold our regular Open Floor meeting at 9:00am
US/Eastern in #fedora-meeting on irc.freenode.net. All are welcome!
To convert to your local time, run:
TZ=US/Eastern date -d '9am tomorrow'
Open Floor meetings happen every other week. They do not have a
preset agenda. Instead, we spend the first few minutes of the
meeting deciding what topics will be discussed. If
attendees — Council members and otherwise — have several topics
of general interest, the primary meeting chair (usually the FPL
or FCAIC) will put them in order, and after a certain amount of
time discussing the first, ask if it's time to move on.

Hey Council members! [Fwd: Short video interviews at Flock --
interested?]
by Matthew Miller
Hey, Council members! I've taking the liberty of throwing you all
under the proverbial bus and identifying you as potential candidates to
say a few words in this video. If you are okay with this, it'd be
super-awesome if you could mail me (off-list) with a question or two
you'd like to be _asked_. Otherwise I will have to write all such
questions and it will not come out as good. :)

welcome, Justin
by Matthew Miller
Congratulations Justin, and welcome to the Fedora Council!
Does the 9am US/Eastern meeting time work for you for the next couple
of weeks?
I think we should probably do a general reschedule to find the best
time, but summer is kind of crazy anyway and I'm not even sure what my
schedule will look like once the kids' school year starts, so perhaps
it's best to wait until after Flock to look at that.

A proposal: Ambassadors and Fedora strategy
by Matthew Miller
Hi everyone. I wrote a post on the Fedora Community Blog with a
proposal for focusing Fedora Ambassador spending and effort. For
several years, we've been asking Ambassadors to translate the Fedora
mission into action — and for event and other spending to connect back
up to the mission — but in practice it's been hard to explain exactly
what that means or how to really implement that.
I have a concrete proposal to make this more straightforward. Please
read the post at
https://communityblog.fedoraproject.org/ambassadors-fedora-strategy/
.
At the end, I suggest that we consolidate discussion in one thread.
This is the start of that thread. :)

FESCo elections are cancelled as list of nominees needs to be amended
by Jan Kurik
Fedora community,
I need to inform you that currently running elections to FESCo needs
to be cancelled. As reported on Council ticket #131 [1], one of the
nominees to FESCo has already granted FESCo seat till end of the F27
period. As such his nomination for the current Elections needs to be
cancelled and subsequently we need to cancel the whole voting and run
it once more.
I would like to ask members of Fedora community to vote once more
starting on Tuesday 2017-Aug-15 00:00:00 UTC. The new voting period
will stop on 2017-Aug-21 at 23:59:00 UTC. The setup of the Voting
machine for the new voting period is currently in progress.
I will send an announcement at the beginning of the new voting period
to inform people the voting has started.
I am really sorry for this issue and I hope the result of the FESCo
elections will not be affected by this issue.

FAmSCo elections are cancelled due to wrong setup of Voting machine
by Jan Kurik
Ambassadors and members of Fedora community,
unfortunately I have to cancel the Elections to FAmSCo due to a
mistake made in configuration of Voting machine. Today (Friday)
morning I received an email reporting issue where people who are not
members of "ambassadors" group in FAS can not vote. Quick check of the
Voting machine setup shows there is a misconfiguration of the FAmSCo
setup causing this issue.
As this issue is a violation of
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FAmSCo_election_rules#Voters policy
saying that "Any person in the Fedora Account System who has completed
the Contributor License Agreement and is member of at least one other
group - including, but not limited to the group of ambassadors - is
eligible to vote in the FAmSCo elections.", I need to cancel the
current Voting to FAmSCo and run it again.
I would like to ask Ambassadors and members of Fedora community to
vote once more starting on Tuesday 2017-Aug-15 00:00:00 UTC. The new
voting period will stop on 2017-Aug-21 at 23:59:00 UTC. The setup of
the Voting machine for the new voting period is currently in progress.
I will send an announcement at the beginning of the new voting period
to inform people the voting has started.
I am really sorry for this issue and I hope the result of the FAmSCo
elections will not be affected by this issue.
Currently running elections to Council and FESCo are not affected by this issue.
Regards,
Jan

[Request for feedback] Ticket #134
by Justin W. Flory
Hi all,
I wanted to reach out on the mailing list about a ticket I just filed,
#134, with regards to the HackMIT event in North America this September.
https://pagure.io/Fedora-Council/tickets/issue/134
Normally I'd wait for it to be discussed, but the event organizers were
hoping for a confirmation or commitment on Friday (I'm asking for
another week). It would be helpful if this ticket was reviewed quickly
so I could coordinate further with the event organizers on Fedora's
sponsorship.
Thanks for your time and consideration, and I apologize for the time
crunch on this.
