Getting approval from the ticket reporter to close a ticket can lead
to tickets being open forever that are not actively being worked.  It
is up to the group to determine when a ticket is closed, and sometimes
that means the reporter does not agree with that resolution.  A ticket
can always be reopened if it was closed prematurely or new information
causes it to be relevant again.

"The group" is not an individual, if we're talking about the most recent issue. And a simple question if there is anything else to be discussed would be welcome rather them immediate dismissal without any discussion whatsoever.

That is correct, and in some cases that is the desired result.

So you decided that my important and time sensitive query was desired to be dismissed or ignored?
