Campaign period: Tue 2015-11-24 ... Mon 2015-11-30
This is right over the US Thanksgiving holiday period, and likely to get very little attention. Do you think we could extend the schedule by a week?

Comment (by jkurik):
The Nomination period has ended, the Campaign period has started.
We have got enough nominees for Council, FESCo and FAmSCo, so the Elections can go on for these teams/group.
Unfortunately there are [https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Env_and_Stacks/Nominations not enough nominees for Env&Stacks working group] to cover all the opened seats. I am going to talk to the working group to find out a "Backup plan", how to deal with this issue.

I have prolonged the Campaign period for one week. The schedule is now as follows: * November 24 - December 07: "Campaign" period * December 08-14: Voting Open * December 15: Results announcement

Individual emails sent to FESCo & FAmSCo nominees, asking them to publish answers to questions in Election Questionnaire (and other info if they like) on Fedora Community Blog. Sending individual emails to nominees for Council seats is in progress.
The communication with nominees has been split between the following people: * bee2502: FESCo nominees * jkurik: FAmSCo nominees * keekri: Council nominees

The last time this deadline was missed it was missed by three candidates for FESCo (ajax, pjones, mjg59). FESCo and the Fedora Board considered the relative merits of sticking to the deadline, which had been enforced twice previously, and overlooking the deadline and decided to allow these three candidates to run for FESCo despite missing the nomination deadline.
While I was very much opposed at the time to that decision, now we should be consistent in our application of rules to ALL members of our community. Please reconsider this and allow Giannis Konstantinidis the opportunity to contribute to FAmSCo by participating in this election.

IIRC, that was due to a confusion between UTC and EST. Does the same apply here - i.e. did the candidate apply prior to midnight local time?
My memory could be faulty as well - that was awhile ago.

It was applied approx. 21 hours late. You can check the exact time on the history tab of the FAmSCo nominees page: https://fedoraproject.org/w/index.php?title=FAmSCo_nominations&action=hi...

Which was not as late as some of the FESCo candidates.

No, it had to do with weddings and conferences presumably. Or it had to do with allowing more participation being more important than rules being rules in the case of this deadline. I did not accept any of the reasons in that case as valid so I don't really care what the reasons are this time. Whatever the reasons this time I consider as valid as the reasons given last time.
I really don't want to rehash the arguments from the FESCo case. I just want everyone treated the same. And we are talking about an election to a body on its deathbed.

Comment (by mattdm):
At yesterday's meeting: "Because we value participation over strict bureaucracy ('Friends' foundation!) candidates for Fedora objections may be accepted within a reasonable grace period after the deadline. However, be aware that this may mean missing out on Fedora Magazine interviews, town halls, and other opportunities for campaigning."
That doesn't mean we'll do it every time (note "may"), and we certainly don't want a habit of late submissions (making the whole schedule slip), but we're glad to see people interested in running and in Fedora leadership positions.
