I don't really thing this idea is good. I think a complete redesign
might be better.
zif stands for Zero Insertion Force, which is also a type of socket (see
pictures here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zero_Insertion_Force) the current logo is a zif socket, but it doesn't look so good.
You don't have to design the logo in the same concept at all. Be
creative.
