#217: Mockup for Fedora Packager for Eclipse context menu ------------------------------+-------------------------------------------- Reporter: jerboaa | Owner: nobody Type: mockup request | Status: new Priority: major | Component: Interaction Design / Usability Severity: Moderately | Keywords: Involved | Blocking: Blocked By: | ------------------------------+-------------------------------------------- Fedora Packager for Eclipse is an Eclipse plug-in which can be thought of as a GUI for Fedora packaging. Commands are available via the context menu. With the number of features increasing it is becoming more and more difficult to come up with a proper design of the context menu. As of now, the total number of items so far is 12 with 3-6 more in the queue. We would appreciate help for coming up with a better design/structure. Perhaps a context menu isn't the right approach, feel free to go wild. We are open for new and innovative suggestions.
Here is a mock-up of existing functionality including the context menu: http://jerboaa.files.wordpress.com/2011/09/fedora_packager_0-2_mockup.png
Our user guide is here: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Eclipse_Fedora_Packager_User_Guide
What are our current challenges?
* Figure out a way to structure the context menu with 20+ items * Have a select set of commands directly accessible, others might be hidden behind an "advanced" element * Perhaps grouping of menu items could make sense 1. Koji. 2. General. 3. RPM related commands
