perfectly sense.
If -design team had to create designs on request for ex. Fedora
seasons card.
For which specification is unknown.
> What is so hard to go to the vendor and ask him for all the
measurements?
Vendor just prints the given design for us. He says you give me the
design and
I'll print it accordingly.
Accordingly? How through scaling up when its to small, common I explained
very well what is needed for the design team at the FAD.
just have a look to this:
http://www.discmakers.com/templates/Jackets.asp
and this are just the jacket templates for this vendor, which was the
first one in google searching for DVD sleeve, why he provides templates
with bleed, trimline and safety area.
> Who shall guess from your pictures?
No need to guess from pictures. How were these designs made for F23 OR
previous
Fedora releases?
your vendor did edit the file remember! Because you was not enabled to
communicate your needs as well, I explained to you at the FAD what we
need!
Doesn't -design maintain a repository of reusable specifications
for
such jobs? Size and other specifications for DVD sleeve/label, Fedora
standees, banners could be maintained in a repository and reused from time
to time.
no design team does not do this, because they have the knowledge that
there is no standard like you saying, standees vary with each vendor and
the possibility of sleeves is endless just take a look to the vendor
above.
> When it comes to DVD sleeves, there is nothing standardized, I can
show you
very easy several 100 different sleeves not to mention that each
vendor has then different needs in bleed. Thats what I witnessed. You are
the best example by yourself, you differ from EMEA and NA
I spoke to the vendor and there is no such specific bleed requirement
from him.
It'll help if you reuse the F23 size and bleed specifications.
there is nothing reusable, see above and btw when a vendor says there is
no bleed requirement you should choose another one, because that one has
no idea about his job. Its the same as the common, that vendors ask for AI
files. I living now in Asia and I see that they do and I have a lot of fun
with them, when I ask them what a AI file is, on the end a container which
contains PDF ;) So the problem is they dont know what they are doing very
well.
I have written above we dont want that they edit our files and that for a
good reason, I can show you 500 flyer messed up by a printer with editing.
The fun with this one even is he made me sign the proof and this one
looked very different to what came out. A printer who takes his job
serious knows that when he asks for a printing ready file, he minimizes
the source of failures - thats why they even provide templates for there
sleeves see above.
