#218: Europe edition of Freemedia envelope ------------------------------------------------+-------------------------- Reporter: ib54003 | Owner: nobody Type: materials for ambassadors request | Status: new Priority: major | Component: Other Severity: Quick & Easy | Artwork Blocked By: | Keywords: | Blocking: ------------------------------------------------+-------------------------- Hey, we need a European edition of Free Media envelope for the new tool by FranciscoD. http://dodoincfedora.wordpress.com/2012/02/16/fedora-freemedia-tool- version-0-2alpha/
The problem with the current Templet is that it is too big "13.5 cm x 13.5 cm," but I need max. "12.5 cm x 12.5 cm". Otherwise I have to pay more than 1.45 € for shipping.
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/File:Freemedia-mailer.svgz
I already talked to FranciscoD and he asked me to creat a new ticket.

Hi, Please can you advise on European Standards for the OCR, Return Address, and Clear Zone areas? I think I used US standards for those. I suspect the standard is universal. If you are aware of any specifics for Europe, give me a shout. Otherwise I will default to applying the previous standard irrespective of the changing envelop size.

take a look at [https://fedorahosted.org/design-team/raw- attachment/ticket/218/dp_automationsfaehige_briefsendungen_2013.pdf], just look at the pictures its German :).[[BR]] I found out that i was wrong with (12,5 cm * 12,5 cm), maybe they changed something in their rules.[[BR]]
It seams to me the cheapest way to send one Freemedia DVD is to send it as a standart letter.[[BR]] That means:[[BR]] [[BR]] national (Germany): 0,60 €[[BR]] international*: 0,75 €[[BR]] [[BR]] *For the international we need the priotity label. [https://fedorahosted.org/design- team/attachment/ticket/218/priorityaufkleber.pdf][[BR]] [[BR]] If I would use the current edition (13,5 cm x 13,5 cm):[[BR]] [[BR]] national (Germany): 1,45 €[[BR]] international: 3,45 €[[BR]] [[BR]] [[BR]] So better if we do a new one :), with the following sizes:[[BR]] [[BR]] L: 14 cm - 23,5 cm*[[BR]] B: 9 cm - 12,5 cm[[BR]] H: bis 0,5 cm[[BR]] *The length must be at least 1.4 times the width.[[BR]] Make sure that the DVD still fits in :).[[BR]] [[BR]] Thanks,[[BR]] ib54003

Yes
If we want this design to produce a sort of DIY envelop/mailer, then it won't fit into an A4/letter paper. With the initial design, the front and back sides of the mailer emerge on one A4 print. The rest is cutting and folding.
Would you be satisfied with an adaptation of the above for an A3 paper instead? That would work
'''Other Alternatives:'''[[BR]] (1) Create a design with the assumption that the sender is ready to cut a custom paper size that is the equivalent of two A4 papers with the width being same as an A4 and length being twice that of an A4. A legal paper size wouldn't fit (2) Create a design with the assumption that the sender is buying a ready- made plain envelope of 12.5 x 23.5cm dimension. In which case, the sender intends to print the design unto the purchased envelop.
Which is it going to be?

I don't believe an A3 paper design would be the perfect solution, also most of us do not have an A3 printer ;).

Yes, that might be the best! ;)

Okay, it finally arrives. I had to make assumptions to move forward as I couldn't lay hands on the most likely envelope for the mailer. I present a proposed mailer with the following assumptions:
1. The envelop orientation is in landscape and the cover flap is on the longer side 2. Seams at the rear side overlap by 1cm (10mm) at most. 3. There is no seam at the middle (rear side) and if there is, it doesn't obstruct printing
Adjustments can be made but I need to know my options (envelope samples). Reactions please?
