F13 Wallpaper questions
by Lukáš Vlček
Hi,
I am considering contributing into F13 wallpaper (or trying to propose
another trash concept). But I would like to ask few questions first (sorry
these are all newbie questions):
1) how much time is left for F13 concepts? As far as I understand there are
some dates:
http://poelstra.fedorapeople.org/schedules/f-13/f-13-design-tasks.html and
wallpaper concept design will close on Mon 2010-02-08. More specifically,
after this date only those concepts will be elaborated more which were
submitted by Mon 2010-02-08, am I correct?
2) do I understand it correctly, that after this there will be only 7 days
to finalize selected concept to a production quality (Finalize Alpha
Wallpaper)?
3) is there any technical specification for F wallpapers? I.e.:
resolution(s) for single - dual screen configuration, recommended colors for
F13 release, etc ...
4) I did not have a chance to follow theme discussion for F13. Is there any
limitation/recommendation about what should/should-not be depicted in F13
wallpaper?
5) Is it important which SW is used to create F wallpaper? In other words,
does it matter if Photoshop is used? (I don't want to start flame wars, I
just did not have enough time to learn GIMP better so far, also I am not
sure whether my good-old Wacom Artpad will work with Fedora. I use Fedora as
a SW developer on a daily basis but did not use it before as a graphic
designer...)
Thanks and regards,
Lukas Vlcek

Fedora 13 Design Schedule
by John Poelstra
Hi Design Team,
We weren't able to work on the schedule at FUDCon so though I need some
direction here on how you would like to schedule to work for Fedora 13.
My recollection was that the four "refreshes" planned for Fedora 12
did not work as well as hoped so I created wallpaper dates around the
Alpha and Beta, etc.
Here is what I have so far:
http://poelstra.fedorapeople.org/schedules/f-13/f-13-design-tasks.html
Please let me know what should be changed or adjusted.
Thanks,
John

Pending Questions for the Design Suite
by Sebastian Dziallas
Hi all,
I've taken a second to move the wiki pages around. [1] is now what will
be used for the spin application, whereas planning should happen here [2].
I think it would be reasonable to work on getting the spin approved soon
and to make modifications as needed then, since feature freeze is also
the deadlines for spins and we'd get the daily builds then rather
earlier than later.
Thanks to Nicu for adding some more applications to the list here [3].
If there's anything else that you feel should be in there, just list it.
Remaining questions are for example how to deal with brushes - whether
we want them included and whether there's a reasonable way to package
them. And if we want a special design for the spin (which I think would
be interesting, but I'm not a designer, heh) who'd take on that one.

Design-team Page
by wonderer
Hy there,
as I filed my last ticket at https://fedorahosted.org/design-team I saw
that there are some old referings to F11 and also I think there could be
some "improvement" in the Ticketsystem, some details, FAQ, Banner (did
we as a Design-team do not have a banner wich would fit better in the
upcoming zikula CMS thingy?! Are there any ideas about that ...?
Will that Trac Instance become our "new" Design-Team "Homepage" (I think
we use it for quite a while more or less...)?
mit freundlichen Grüßen / best regards

fedora sound theme
by wonderer
Hy there,
I filled a ticket for a soundtheme (see
https://fedorahosted.org/design-team/ticket/114 ) and hopefully we got
some musicians who can do that and have some expperience in Sounddesign.
Hopefully this could be used for the FWN Podcasts (german, english,
spanish, etc.) and upcoming Vidcasts and Interviews. So my idea behind
that is that people not only can see the fedora Logo, the 4F, etc. and
identify with that, but also hear fedora ...
I use for quite some time a cc-licenced music and some samples (e.g.
http://blog.radiotux.de/2009/09/16/fedora-weekly-news-fwn-193/ ) but
that could only be half the part ;-)
Maybe that theme could also be implemented somewhere on upcoming F12,
F13, etc. as a sound sample or testtheme for programms. Any other ideas?
mit freundlichen Grüßen / best regards

I like it. Do you want to do a collab or something to make a wallpaper? Like you make parts and I make parts.
