Hello Design team, Following is an extract from ticket #231[1] <quote> GSoC 2012 selection process is over ! We had a high demand from the students and since we are offering some limited slots we couldn't accept all the good students. Therefore we are planning to launch a program something noted below. The structure of the program is not yet finalized but certainly we need some tasks, so that students can work on those. Roughly the structure would be; a student should select some tasks form the list and should complete required hours (eg: 100 hrs), the student is encouraged to learn himself most of the time and if he needs some support after all he is free to contact the person mentioned with the task. Seeking for tasks - Program for GSoC returning students

Hello GSoC 2012 selection process is over ! We had a high demand from the students and since we are offering some limited slots we couldn't accept all the good students. Therefore we are planning to launch a program for returning students (who didnt select for GSoC with Fedora). The structure of the program is not yet finalized but certainly we need some tasks, so that students can work on those. If you are interested in adding a task to the list[1] please feel free. Please note the number of hours needed to complete the task and contact details of the person who should be contacted in case of getting more information. F17 Beta Wallpaper touchups

Hi Alexander, (I'm cc'ing the design team for reference) I think so far the F17 wallpaper has been a real hit. We've gotten a lot of positive comments about it. Thank you so much for doing such a great job on it. Matthew Garrett is doing Macbook Air testing of Fedora 17, and he noticed even though the wallpaper looks great (maybe just a tiny bit of banding) on most computers, on the Macbook Air it shows strange stairstep banding. I took a photo of it here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mairin/7090541057/ I'm going to try to adjust the image a bit to try to eliminate this artifact and to dither the banding so the image appears a bit smoother. Do you have any ideas / suggestions for updating the wallpaper further for final? I was thinking about playing around with some of the fireworks effects since I'm going to be poking at it anyway. Let me know what you think. I'll follow up with a post of what I come up with. ~m

Hi, My name is Nicole Harris - I'm a web designer based in Melbourne, Australia. I've been using linux for a while now and am a recent convert to Fedora (previously I used ubuntu). I'd love to get involved - I'm specifically interested in learning more about UX design and participating in these types of projects. Some examples of my work: www.roi.com.au (this is my workplace - i redesigned their website last year, since then someone else has taken over the project, but my initial design is still *pretty much* there) www.sanremoballroom.com.au www.janetwolf.com.au (one of my really early designs...) By day I now focus on conversion based solutions for online marketing campaigns - this involves a/b and multivariate split testing. By night I am designing a couple of web apps (too early to show you any examples...!) with my partner who is a web developer. skills: Gimp, Inkscape HTML, CSS, Wordpress, Joomla Jquery (beginner) Looking forward to getting my hands dirty! I'm new to the fedora design sphere(came from ubuntu) so I'm a bit lost with this mailing list, could some point me to the list of open tickets. also i heard there some something about a cloud background? could someone feel me in on that as well. Hi Designers, My name is Vanessa Kerr Gauthier and I'm a new intern here at Redhat. I designed a wallpaper for Robyn with the fedora logo incorporated into the clouds. I was wondering if anybody would be interested in testing out my wallpaper and/or giving me feedback for my work. That would be really great! Hello everyone, my name is Mark Petro, and I live in Chandler, Arizona. I am currently studying Game Art and Design at Westwood College Online, but 3D and graphic design has been a long time hobby. I have experience in Blender, GIMP, Inkscape, as well as non-GPL programs such as 3DS Max, Photoshop and Illustrator, and I am also familiar with C++, ActionScript 3.0 and Python, so I am comfertable with scripting as well.
