How to create mockups

Hi,

I want to learn how to create mockups for desktop applications. Mostly
Gnome/Gtk apps.
Any links/videos will be helpful :)

Mockups can be thought of as just drawings or illustrations of what an
application's UI should look like. There isn't any specific way to do
it. You can draw it up in Inkscape, or you can combine screenshots in
GIMP to create something that looks like an application. Even the most
abstract ideas can be accomplished by a programmer these days. Take,
for eg. Chromium. Chromium's UI is entirely written in GTK+.

You could even use a RAD tool, like Glade 3 to design an application's
UI ready for immediate use.

Are you wanting to create mockups for apps that have not yet been
created or are you looking to create mockups to improve upon existing
apps?

(I ask because the approach is slightly different for either case)

Also, do you mean from a general workflow/design approach; or do you
mean from a very specific, multi-step gimp-inkscape workflow? (or both?)
