Okay.
While the Ambassadors ponder over the issues presented by Vinz and Gnokii, let us trash the design oriented part amongst ourselves.
Right now I see two options: A: use gnokii's/tatica's characters as exemplified by Vinz here: [1] http://vinz.fedorapeople.org/join-process/joining-intro.png [2] http://gnokii.fedorapeople.org/kids-design.png B: Use *I-don't-know-his-name*'s characters as exemplified here: [3] https://fedoraproject.org/w/uploads/5/55/Fedora-15-livemedia-64.png
I was thinking in the lines of *B* but adapted to poses that can send the 'Ambassador' message. Like Characters with 'name-tags', mic, knapsacks, school-bags, laptops etc to represent different areas/levels of ambassadorial activities. I made a crude sketch of what i had in mind.
Here: http://twohot.fedorapeople.org/design/wiki/ambassadors/ambassador-sketch-too...
[DISCLAIMER] its crude!!! The idea: Gnokii could vectorize the sketch taking cognizance of [3] and add some of his feel to it -- then everybody should be happy.

Just my opinion but I don't see this cartoon kid theme as attracting people who have the Fedora experience and skills that mesh nicely with being Fedora Ambassadors. I rather suspect it will appeal to the sorts of people that either don't have any experience to begin with and who aren't likely to stick with us.
B: Use *I-don't-know-his-name*'s characters as exemplified here: [3] https://fedoraproject.org/w/uploads/5/55/Fedora-15-livemedia-64.png
Can someone explain who these faceless people are supposed to be and what they are supposed to represent? My mouth pretty much fell open when I saw the cover art on the finished product and I have no idea what any of it means. There may be a really cool idea behind it but I don't get it from just looking at the cover.

While I like your sketch here much better than any of the previously proposed options I guess before encouraging more work in this direction I'd like to get a feel for why people think this sort of theme actually fits with the objective of attracting the sorts of people who will be well suited to the ambassador group?!

I guess we can continue with the kids theme since Fedora is not only build by tech people, but we also want to attract people at schools and colleges. I believe we have a good team and we can work on both ideas.

I love this idea, I think I can vectorize this after today meetings. Onyeibo I will contact you on IRC to catch up on this.

Just one small piece of feedback - I'm not a fan of the angle of the sketch because there's a girl and a women both wearing short skirts.

Maybe Onyeibo can invert the angle (from above) Onyeibo, can you do that?
Sure.

yes that kind of perspective means the have to look down and it create a feeling for the viewer as they would be higher as he self. Could be the wrong signal - we are contribute u are nothing!

Well, I had to absolve some lessons in psychology. :D
That's another strong concept
I like ur drawing it shows some powerful people but powerful I wouldnt use in that case you can create a feeling on the viewer that he think he has not enough power to be among them.
What we need is more characters where most people would say "oh yes that can be me" and have no fears to join.
Even they are not "pro"!!!

Yeh, I agree. We don't want folks to be intimidated. It's not a bad thing if they think contributing to an open source project would enable them more control over their computing life (I could see that as being 'powerful') but it has to seem like an achievable goal. I think the angle also has a 'cool' or a 'dramatic' factor.
I like the kids because they make it seem achievable to be a productive contributor, but they also seem smart and they have a lot of friends (themselves.) We could achieve the 'cool' or 'dramatic' factor depending on our visual treatment of the kids graphics.

Good Morning,
I have articulated your comments so far into a new sketch. here: http://twohot.fedorapeople.org/design/wiki/ambassadors/ambassador-sketch-too...
I forgot to vary the cultures (in attire), So I provided some notes and alternative representations of some of the characters. Imagine some of them to be Asians, Africans, and from Middle East (Hmm, A Dashiki with small coat and a headscarf for a lady from there should do). But this is all in the direction of Vinz concept. Any other suggestion/concept/reference is still welcome.
... More Comments please.
