Thanks to Lubomir Rintel alias lkundrak effort, Synfig Studio is now officially part of Fedora repository. Installation can be done with either Add/Remove Software with search name synfigstudio or yum. Unfortunately it did not make it for Fedora 10 who went EOL last week.

I was working in spanish translations of the manual for this program so is great know that is now in the repos :D

Indeed, I followed a couple of screencasts and found it not very intuitive. But AFAIK is the only tool available for 2D animations.

Blender can be used for 2d animation. Pencil is another one like Ktoon or Synfig although, like Ktoon, trying to get it to run on Fedora could be a bit tricky.
