I know it may sound stupid, but Fedora is 10, so how about trying to switch the colour scheme? Instead of white on blue background, blue on white [or light] background? IMHO, the XX concept works perfectly, so I tried a couple of drafts based on it just to explain what I mean. sam_

Ooh, I like these! The only thing is the plain white I think could be grunged up or given shadows/gradients/texture in the corners so it looks intentional. Otherwise white might look like the screen froze kind of, if you know what I mean?

This is okay for the alpha (and looks great), but think the brightness is pretty startling for an everyday background.

You folks really rock. All these ideas are beautiful. My favorite in this case is the base one though, it is very clean. The splotches unfortunately make me think my display is dirty which is a testament to how well done they are but they distract my brain. :)

I really like the basic design, but am not sure about the splotches which make me want to wipe the screen obsessively. Maybe that's just me. (I'm gonna set my own background to a boring neutral gray anyway, so my vote might not count for much.)

- I want to put preference on design team member's opinions on this. - It's for an alpha - really just a placeholder before we have the release name chosen. It's not a final. - We need something yesterday.
I hope this is okay. We'll be more cautious about this kind of texture use for the final design and in the future.

Yep -- +1 to all of those. Just wanted to contribute my thoughts. As I generally like to do. :)
I've been using both the clean version and the blotchy version for a while now and my initial reaction was pretty negative about the blotchy version. My brain just saw a dirty display but after a short time it became comfortable to me. I still like the clean version best but the others don't really bother me now that my brain is trained to expect what it is seeing.

I think we don't know very well the process prepare and packaging wallpaper. It would be nice in the future ;) to describe it to the design team wiki step by step. This should help us :)
