So, on my Firefox, the attachment is there, but I have to download it
to view it. Is this intentional?

Firefox as email client?

The attachment has "Content-Disposition: attachment;".  It's always up 
to the client what to do with it, but the suggestion is to download it. 
  Thunderbird displays it after the message with an option to save it.
