Fedora 16 / GNOME 3.2 Test Day?
by Adam Williamson
Hey, folks. So, would it be a good idea to have a GNOME 3.2 Test Day
some time after we land 3.1.90, to test out the major new features and
ensure we catch any serious bugs before we get too frozen? I think we
could put one together based on the 3.0 Test Days pretty easily, and I'd
be happy to do so if you folks think it would be worthwhile. We don't
have any really awesome Thursday slots left - the remaining open slots
are pretty late in the cycle - but we can always make a Tuesday slot, so
it's no real problem. If you could let me know if you think it'd be a
good idea, and roughly when looks like a good time to do it, that'd be
great. thanks!

Gnome session analyze tool
by Jóhann B. Guðmundsson
Is there some tool like the fancy systemd analyze Lennart wrote that
exist in the wild for Gnome sessions?
It would be a bit interesting to see what causes such a long log into
Gnome desktop from gdm time and I think it safe to say that the
expectation of the time it takes for you to log in is less than it takes
for you to boot up into gdm.
( which can be pretty fast with tweaked systemd )
The ones of you that are familiar with gnome-session-properties and do
blog might want to blog about what each item does and what the side
effects are from disabling it of course some of those are bleeding
obvious what they are for others are vague to say the least.
Thanks

by Jóhann B. Guðmundsson
What's the current status of the facelift for the screen lock and login
screen is that something we will see in 3.2 F16 or has that been postponed?
Thanks

Any gotchas for packaging libsoupmm?
by Bruno Wolff III
I got a request to package libsoupmm for Fedora and am looking into potential
issues with doing that before committing to do this. Since that source
seems to be tied to gnome-2.28, I thought it would be a good idea to
ask people working with gnome 3 in Fedora if packaging it was going to
be a problem.
The purpose of the library is to provide c++ bindings for the libsoup
library.
Do you know of any gotchas that packaging this would have with respect
to gnome 3?

Ugly looking icons at fedora-icon-theme on Xfce
by Heiko Adams
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA256
Hi,
I've migrated my desktop from Gnome to Xfce for several reasons some
days ago. But currently I've got an optical problem: The
fedora-icon-theme and the echo-icon-theme seem to not provide an icon
for the bluetooth- and pulseaudio-applet and the black default icon from
the gnome-icon-theme looks absolutely ugly on Xfce. Am I the only one
with this problem?

F16 Alpha RC4 desktop validation: please help out!
by Adam Williamson
Hey, folks. So, we've just spun the latest F16 Alpha RC, which you can
get here:
http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/alt/stage/16-Alpha.RC4/Live/
(DVD / boot.iso are a level up). It's desktop validation time! I didn't
notify you all of the earlier TCs / RCs as they were all quite obviously
broken, but we're hoping RC4 will be the one. There's only two desktop
validation tests (per desktop) that are critical to Alpha release, but
it's good to get through some of the others too so we can get ahead of
ourselves on Beta / Final fixes.
So, if you have a bit of spare time, it'd be great if you could grab an
image and help fill out the test results page:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Results:Fedora_16_Alpha_RC4_Desktop
that'd be a great help. Thanks! LXDE not included on the mail because we
don't have an LXDE image yet, I believe there's an issue preventing
compose; I'll look into that.

GNOME updates for F16
by Matthias Clasen
Hi,
I have started to build GNOME 3.1.4 updates for F16 on Monday.
Unfortunately, the branching cut in right between me building a
soname-bumping cogl and everything that depends on it. I have now
established a side target, f16-gnome, for building interdependent
updates without the forced wait due to updates-testing. I think I got
all cogl dependencies in the desktop rebuilt, and have filed a bodhi
update with all those builds.
There is still more 3.1.4 updates to do, and I am going on vacation
tomorrow, so it would be great if other people (Richard, Tomas, Colin ?)
could chime in and get the remaining builds done.
Don't forget that
a) you must switch to the f16 branch in git
b) we have to file bodhi updates for all F16 builds now
c) you can use f16-gnome for building a set of updates (koji build --target f16-gnome ...), and then tag
them into f16-updates-candidate afterwards (koji tag-pkg f16-updates-candidate ...)
d) the alpha freeze is coming up next Tuesday
Thanks, and hope to see some of you in Berlin soon
Matthias
