Alt+Tab on screen display not disappearing
by Ryan Lerch
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced in F18 (GNOME3.6) a weird
bug where the alt+tab switcher does not disappear?
When it happens, i can press press alt+tab again and other switcher is
displayed under (z-index wise) the one already on the screen. If i keep
pressing alt+tab, these layer up also.
The annoying part is that when you go to restart the shell, (with
alt+f2), that overlay does not get keyboard focus, so you can't restart
it from there. The only way to restart the shell is to switch to another
tty, and kill the gnome-shell process with kill -9
anyone else experiencing this issue?
cheers,

obsoletes in gnome-shell
by Bill Nottingham
The gnome-shell package should probably obsolete the assorted fallback mode
components that have been removed from F19 (and will likely cause dep
problems on user's systems if they remain.)

Gnome 3.6 default GTK2 theme
by Michael Cronenworth
... is a major step down from Gnome 3.4 and previous.
Problems:
- GtkFrame widgets have no color. They do not show up at all now. This
was the default in GTK3 for a while but I filed a bug and had it changed.
- A 1px black line on all widget box borders. Very visually unappealing.
Thunderbird shows this most visibly.
- When you click on a application menu bar item the text changes to
white. The menu bar is already white so the text essentially disappears.
- The scroll bar used to be a close match to the GTK3 bar but now it
looks like something from 1997.
- The mouse-over color for GtkCheckBoxes is black. The whole widget and
surrounding area turns black.
- Buttons in Firefox are black (with black text!) until you mouse over.
Just go to http://bugzilla.gnome.org and look at the buttons. You'll
just see a black boxes.
QT apps use the GTK2 theme so QT apps are affected as well.
I would hope a bug for these issues was already opened, but if no one
can point me to one I will open one.
Thanks,
Michael

PySide for python3
by Marco Scannadinari
Any plans to add pyside for python3 in the fedora repositories? It is
already up for python2.*, but not for 3... package name for python2 is
python-pyside.

Gnome3 and auto-mounting MTP devices
by Ankur Sinha
Hi folks,
Of late, on my up to date F18 system, my galaxy S3 (jellybean 4.1.2)
doesn't automount as an MTP device on Gnome3. It doesn't show up in
nautilus even after I use simple-mtpfs (the orphaned mtpfs package
doesn't work). IIRC, it used to, but I'm not really sure when it
stopped. Would anyone know how I could debug this and file a bug report?
Does Gnome3 use mtpfs as a backend?
It sucks that Andriod's using MTP, but I'd still like to see if work out
of the box in Fedora :)
I filed a bug against mtpfs, but since it's orphaned, I don't expect it
fixed any time soon.

Remove Gnome desktop on F18 ?
by jzigmund@redhat.com
Hi,
I'm curious, if it's a possibility to remove entirely GNOME 3 from F18.
I've tried via '# yum groupremove GNOME\ Desktop' but it looked like it
wants to wipe out whole system, because it ended with:
...
--> Restarting Dependency Resolution with new changes.
--> Running transaction check
--> Finished Dependency Resolution
Error: Trying to remove "systemd", which is protected
Error: Trying to remove "yum", which is protected
So the question is, how can I remove Gnome-shell (with all
dependencies) ?
Regards,

centre cursor after boot
by Marco Scannadinari
Shouldn't the cursor be centred after boot, ubuntu seems to be the only
distro that does this. Why can't Fedora?
This is especially annoying when logging into gnome using only the
keyboard, and the cursor (placed on the top left) triggers the
Activities menu.
