gnome package ownership

Hi, historically, we've always struggled to maintain a full 'acl matrix' so every desktop team member can touch every gnome package. But we can do better ! Kalev has set up a 'gnome-sig' group in pkgdb, which some people are already members of. You can make your packages available to the group like this: pkgdb-cli update --approve $package commit group::gnome-sig all pkgdb-cli can also list your packages: pkgdb-cli list --user $user --nameonly I've just 'donated' all my packages to the group. If you own gnome-related packages please consider doing the same and joining the group. Matthias

Final release announcement coordination

Hi all! As we're getting to pretty solid RC, it's again time for release announcement. Readiness meeting is on Thursday, would be nice to have a draft ready for review and final version next Monday, so text formatted and magazine versions can be prepared in advance. Workstation seems to be pretty covered, do we have any additions to Server and Cloud? Bugs and RFE's for Fedora Workstation

With the creation of the 3 Fedora flavours, the process of tracking bugs and RFE's for Fedora workstation is a lot more muddled than it already is. Should this be something that we should focus on as a meta-task for the F22 release? Bugzilla currently tracks issues on a per-package (component in the Bugzilla terminology ) basis, so some packages are used in all 3 flavours, but others are more specific to Workstation (e.g. gnome-shell). And some of these have a lot of bugs in the NEW status (gnome-shell has over 830). I'm not sure what the solution is here, but from a user point of view, the experience for filing a bug, RFE or providing feedback for the workstation is very confusing. IMHO, we shouldn't expect users to know what component their bug is against, or if they should file a bug upstream or not. So i'm reaching out for thoughts / ideas on how to make this better. cheers, ryanlerch

WG meeting schedule in 2015

As agreed in the last meeting, we're going to have the WG meeting per usual on Wed 2014-Dec-17. The next meeting which would normally be Wed 2014-Dec-31 has been canceled. Rather than go an additional two weeks without meeting, can I get +1's to resume our regular schedule on Wed 2014-Jan-07? That would begin the regular biweekly cadence, so the next following meeting would be Wed 2014-Jan-21, and so on. -- Paul W. Atomic workstation

Hi Colin, I wondered what your thoughts are about the possibility of serving the workstation image as a tree in Fedora atomic. It would be interesting for the atomic update and rollback capabilities that ostree offers. Maybe we could also use it for doing similar testing to the upstream gnome-continuous, using taskotron. What are the pros/cons ? What do we have to do to get there ? Thanks, Matthias

Cannot install Wine

Fedora 21 Desktop (beta fully updated). I cannot install Wine. When trying to do so (using Yum Extender) some dependencies with Samba's winbind libraries fails to resolve and the installation aborts. Did someone find a solution? (I am running Fedora as a guest OS in Virtualbox with VirtualBox guest additions installed (and fully functional), if it matters - but I don't think so) Regards Peter Laursen

Fedora 21 Final Release Candidate 5 (RC5) Available Now!

NOTE: Signing of the RC5 checksums is not yet complete. To be sure we're testing the right bits we should remember to check that the images we test match the signed checksum files once they're available, and of course you can carefully check the TLS certificate of the server when downloading the images. fedup tests may require the --nogpgcheck parameter until the signed .treeinfo file is available. releng will update and close the trac ticket when signing is complete. As per the Fedora 21 schedule [1], Fedora 21 Final Release Candidate 5 (RC5) is now available for testing. The difference between RC5 and RC4 is that the changes to python-blivet and pyparted that were introduced in RC1 to fix bug #1166598 have been reverted, as they were found to cause more serious problems than they fixed. As this change affects the installer, all installation validation tests should be run again. Existing RC4 test results for post-installation tests will be considered valid and transferred into the RC5 result pages; from now on, please do all testing with RC5 images. Please see the following pages for download links (including delta ISOs) and testing instructions. Normally dl.fedoraproject.org should provide the fastest download, but download-ib01.fedoraproject.org is available as a mirror (with an approximately 1 hour lag) in case of trouble. Fedora 21 Final Release Candidate 4 (RC4) Available Now!

NOTE: Signing of the RC4 tree is not yet complete, there are technical issues in releng preventing it working. To strictly be sure we're testing the right bits we should remember to check that the images we test match the signed checksum files once they're available, and of course you can carefully check the TLS certificate of the server when downloading the images. fedup tests may require the --nogpgcheck parameter until the signed .treeinfo file is available. releng will update and close the trac ticket when signing is complete. As per the Fedora 21 schedule [1], Fedora 21 Final Release Candidate 4 (RC4) is now available for testing. Note that RC3 never made it out of the compose process - releng made a small mistake so they started over, and it was easier to call the retry 'RC4' than clean up the failed attempt and call the retry 'RC3'. The only difference between RC4 and RC2 should be that the live images have correct fontconfig caches. Otherwise RC4 and RC2 should be effectively identical. There is no difference in their package sets, the fontconfig fix was done in the kickstarts. Existing RC2 test results will be considered valid for RC4 and transferred to the RC4 result pages, but from now on, please switch to testing the RC4 images. At present we're hopeful RC4 will be good enough for Final release, so please help us get through all the testing!
