Fedora Workstation feature proposal: Tray icons

Hello,
I would like to propose a RFE for Fedora Workstation. I think what Fedora
Workstation, or GNOME in general, really misses is some support for tray
icons. There are many applications that do not work properly when having no
tray icon. Nowadays, tray icons are mostly implemented using an
AppIndicator standard made by Canonical and supported in GNOME using the
"KStatusNotifierItem/AppIndicator Support" Shell Extension also made by
Canonical and packaged in Fedora as gnome-shell-extension-appindicator.
This extension is preinstalled out-of-box in Ubuntu. In KDE, AppIndicators
are supported out-of-box.
Is there a place I could send a RFE to add the
gnome-shell-extension-appindicator package to base Fedora Workstation
installation or is this e-mail sufficient? No out-of-box support for tray
icons is a big minus for Fedora in my opinion.

bug, gnome-software is recommending non-free software

Stumbled upon this bug report and I'm not sure how to respond to it;

I don't know what the UI looks like to get into this situation. But
for sure I have no way of knowing, or inferring, that merely enabling
Flathub as a repository means I'm also wanting proprietary software to
be recommended by GNOME Software.
I don't even totally feel comfortable showing proprietary software in
searches, just because the user enabled a repo that contains some
non-free software, something they have no way of knowing in advance.
GNOME Software -> Preferences
( ) Show proprietary (non-free) software in searches
( ) Promote proprietary (non-free) software
Or perhaps even simpler, but it lumps in two the passive (search) and
the active (featured) presentation of proprietary software:
( X ) Do not show proprietary software
The above show my expected defaults in Fedora Workstation.
Is there a way to filter flathub applications based on free/non-free?
And only show free by default?

Initial F31 flatpak runtime and further plans

Hi all,
I've built an initial version of F31 flatpak runtime and SDK, and built
a set of GNOME flatpaks against it. At the same time, I've also updated
them to 3.34.x. I'll build more of the apps against F31 runtime in the
coming days. Right now the set of apps include:

This set was chosen for the initial port because this is what we want to
preinstall on Silverblue.
This should hopefully go stable around the same time as F31 goes live,
so people should be able to install 3.34 flatpaks on F31.

I'd like to give up gnote

Hello,
I haven't used gnote for a while and would like to give up maintaining
it. It is updated as part of the gnome releases anyway---I've not
updated it myself in a while.
The two other maintainers do not appear to be active. May I transfer it
to the gnome-sig and remove myself (instead of the general orphaning
process)?

flatpak local storage location

The subject of disk space and flatpaks came up in the most recent
workstation meeting, and I'd like to separately discuss that in this
thread before creating a flatpak issue.

Neither sysroot nor $HOME fits the above use case, where the user
wants to store games on a separate volume entirely. And another use
case is where it's desirable to use the much larger /home volume
storage pool, but permit sharing of apps among users.
Could there be a /home/share/flatpak with the appropriate permissions,
that meets both use case requirements?
Alternatively, Workstation could do what Silverblue does, with
/var/home bind mounted to /home - and therefore system and user
flatpaks go on the same volume. But there should also be a way to set
the default location for flatpak files. Users wanting a games volume
could bind mount it to /var/lib/flatpak, but then they need a way to
set system as the default location instead of users.
