Has anyone dived into a security review of this code before including it in the default installation?
The code could certainly do with a review: https://github.com/FeralInteractive/gamemode/tree/master/daemon
By installing it by default, we're also making it part of the "API" that games and applications expect to be able to use, without having checked its API, its usability long-term, and even if it's fit for purpose.

I agree with Bastien here, including this without first doing a thorough technical review feels premature.

Please stop the trolling and the negative energy.
I expect most people on the Workstation WG understand that you are actively trying to undermine Fedora: not allow new technologies in that would make it better (gamemode), remove useful apps (Totem, GNOME Books) and force everybody to use third party repos (flathub) instead of Fedora.
Fairly pissed off here. I don't understand why Red Hat keeps you on their payroll.
Pete

Pete, this is not the way we talk to each other on mailing lists, this is seriously over the line. Next time give yourself a break for an hour before you start typing, to cool off emotions.
As the person who proposed inclusion of gamemode in Workstation, I was the first one to note that it would be great if somebody with good technical expertise could analyze the package to make sure it doesn't introduce any problems in our distro. I'm not concerned about the ability to change cpu governors and such, I have a good idea what that means I believe, but I can't really speak for the way it's implemented (systemd services, dbus api, policykit configs, etc). Owen Taylor did some of that during the meeting, but I don't know whether it was enough or not.

I had a very brief look at the code when I packaged it; I can have a more thorough look some time this or next week.
Cheers, CK
