# Fedora Workstation Working Group meeting, 28 April 2026
## Attendees
- Allan - Chris - Luigi - Matthias - Michael - Nieves
## Rotating working group chair
- Today is the last day of Michael's chair duty for the Fedora 44 - Last week the group agreed to rotate the chair on a monthly basis - Matthias was next on the list, but has requested not to do it in May. Apparently that means it's Allan next. - Protocol for chairs: - Review open tickets - Tag tickets with the meeting tag to put them on the agenda - Send out the agenda each week - Keep track of who the secretary is - Tomáš volunteers to be chair in May (thanks Tomáš!) - Luigi suggests that we have docs on how to chair the group - ACTION: Michael to write a chairing guide
## Replace gnome-keyring-daemon with oo7-daemon #506
- Topic is: https://forge.fedoraproject.org/workstation/tickets/issues/506 - The GNOME keyring maintainers are in favour - Michael, Tomáš and Matthias are in favour. The stack needs to be modernized. - ACTION: Michael/Matthias will additionally pursue making the change in gnome-build-meta - AGREED: replacement approved
## Automatically update appstream-data #507
- Topic is: https://forge.fedoraproject.org/workstation/tickets/issues/507 - See: https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/appstream-data - Apps can disappear in GNOME Software for periods due to this issue - We need to regenerate the metadata automatically; hughsie is busy with other things - In the past it has been difficult to get something built automatically on Fedora infra when it isn't a package, but things could have changed since then - Tomáš recommends that we ask Kevin from CPE about it (he's on the workstation channel) - ACTION: Matthias to do this
## Remove remnants of ABRT #503
- Topic is: https://forge.fedoraproject.org/workstation/tickets/issues/503 - We discussed this last week with Jeff. The conclusion was that we want Workstation and KDE to do the same thing. - Jeff also suggested that we post another call for volunteers on Discourse - Michael proposes that we remove abrt for Fedora 45, and volunteers to coordinate with the KDE team - AGREED: there were no objections, removal is approved
## Enable a subset of Flathub by default #492
- Topic: https://forge.fedoraproject.org/workstation/tickets/issues/492 - This would require a change proposal and FESCo approval - Michael wants to hear opinions - there are pros and cons - Michael has concerns about the security of Flathub builds compared with Fedora builds - Other issues raised by Michael: - Apps stuck on EoL runtimes - Open source apps not being built from source - If we do include a subset of Flathub, we will probably want to rethink the 3rd party repos - There is a proposal from Michael in #492: - Flathub would only build open source software from source, and would expose only that set of apps - The "open" Flathub apps would then be enabled by default in Fedora, with lower priority than Fedora Flatpaks - Suggestion: WG members to review the proposal in the ticket so we can discuss more
Next meeting: May 5th
