Hi fellow admins,
I have a peculiar requirement. We have two offices. People from second office(say #2) want to connect to the server in first office(say #1). They want to run the GUI applications in the office #1 server from office #2.
I tried to do this with VNC server and it works fine. But VNC is goes thro unencrypted(open) connection. Is there a way to do this in a secured way(read that xdmcp is not possible as it uses UDP).
Inside our network(LAN) if connect from one system to other thro ssh and start an gui application that application shows up in the client. This doesn't happen when i connect to server and start gui apps(says display not set). iptables runs in the server. Do i have to open any port for that?
Any help or pointer in this regard is appreciated.
TIA, SK

This list is for desktop development discussions. Kindly post to fedora-list for end user help.

Rahul, now that you bring that up, it'd be better to change this Mailing list's name or address to "fedora-desktop-devel-list", yes it's longer but would avoid confusion, since the desktop-list name seems to imply that it is for desktop *discussion*, rather than *development*

The same goes for many other fedora lists as well, like fedora-config-list where the most posts are of the "how do I configure foo" type, accompanied with "your post is off topic" reply.

Hate to bring this up, but on this site http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Communicate, fedora-desktop-list reads as follows (this is copy/paste) fedora-desktop-list http://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-desktop-list - For discussions about desktop issues such as user interfaces, artwork, and usability

Yes. thats part of the desktop development as opposed to end user questions.

Well the web interface clearly says its for development and fedora-devel list gets a number of end user help questions too. I am not sure its worth it.

Well the web interface clearly says its for development
and probably nobody will read it.
and fedora-devel list gets a number of end user help questions too.
That will always happen.

IMHO it's worth it. It makes it a lot more obvious that that list is for devel discussions.
Just my 2 cent.
