Last day for bugfixes
by Jesse Keating
At the end of today (IE when I fall asleep) we will no longer be
evaluating builds for release that aren't a critical release blocking
bugfix. We will be using very strict means of determining what a
release blocking issue is. This is the final stretch, my goals are to
have a complete package set tomorrow morning for doing the final
composes.
Unless something goes horribly wrong, the final kernel build will be
kernel-2.6.23.1-41.fc8 which is currently available in the buildroots. If you have software that builds against the kernel now would be the time to build it and alert rel-eng(a)fedoraproject.org so that we can tag those builds for the release.
Thank you all for all your help making Werewolf be an awesome release!

comps-f9 open for commit
by Jesse Keating
We've created the f9 comps based on the current f8 comps. This will be
used once we switch rawhide over to composing from dist-f9.

cvs-import.sh change (import to branch in cwd)
by Jesse Keating
I've made a small change to cvs-import.sh to keep it more in line with
the internal Red Hat version. When importing packages it will use the
existence of a 'branch' file in your cwd to determine what branch to
import to by default. This can still be overridden by -b.

Koji Garbage Collection
by Jesse Keating
We are about to roll out garbage collection for Koji. Please review the
document linked below.
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Koji/GarbageCollection
As part of garbage collection, builds that are no longer needed will be
deleted. The owner of the build will receive an email notification of
the impending deletion and there is a grace period. To reduce the amount
of email, multiple notifications to the same user will be combined into
one message.
If you receive such a notification, deleting the builds is most likely
the right thing. If you feel differently, please see the document linked
above for instructions.
The initial collection of builds that can be deleted will happen tonight.
Because there is an urgent need to free space on the Koji server, we
will be shortening the grace period during the initial rollout. This
means that you will need to act fast if you need to save a build that
you receive a notification about. The first round of deletions will kick
in late Friday evening.

Bodhi & Fedora 8 Updates
by Luke Macken
I just upgraded our Bodhi production instance, which will now allow you
to enqueue your Fedora 8 Updates.
http://bodhi.fedoraproject.org
Some notable changes since the last update:
• Updates will automatically get unpushed once they reach a karma of -3
• No more confusing legacy move/push terminology. Available update requests are 'testing' and 'stable'.
• Unpushing/obsoleting is now instant.
• ACL validation against the pkgdb for new update submissions.
As always, please direct your bugs and enhancement requests here:

The branching is done. CVS commits have been re-enabled. If your
package is missing an F-8 branch please mail rel-eng(a)fedoraproject.org
and we'll look into it.
Again, sorry for the extended outage. Happy committing!

Mass Branching for Fedora 8
by Jesse Keating
In a few minutes we will begin mass branching for Fedora 8. CVS
commits will be disabled during this time.
I will announce when CVS is open again for commits.
