Fedora 12 Features Needing Updates
by John Poelstra
We have reached and passed the Fedora 12 Feature Freeze milestone. All
Fedora 12 features should be significantly complete and in a "testable"
state. We need the help of several feature owners to bring their pages
current or target them for Fedora 13.
According to a review of all the feature pages, the following features
have not been updated recently or are not 100% complete. Please update
them no later than Wednesday, August 6, 2009.
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/ABRTF12
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/DisplayPort
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/Empathy
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/FedoraStudio
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/GFS2ClusteredSamba
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/Gnome2.28
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/KVM_NIC_Hotplug
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/KVM_qcow2_Performance
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/KVM_Stable_Guest_ABI
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/libguestfs
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/LowerProcessCapabilities
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/XI2
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/MoreNetworkManagerMobileBroadband
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/FedoraMoblin
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/NetBeans_6.7
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/NetworkManagerSystemConnections
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/NFSClientIPv6
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/NFSv4Default
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/Rakudo_Perl_6
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/SR-IOV
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/Thusnelda
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/SystemtapTracingRefresh
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/VirtioSerial
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/VirtStorageManagement
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/YumLangpackPlugin
If any of the features listed above remain in their current state, I
will recommend that FESCo review and drop them from the Fedora 12
feature list at their August 7, 2009, meeting.
If your feature is substantially complete and in a "testable state" for
Fedora 12, please perform the following:
1) Update the % complete and "last updated" date
2) In the status section please also include what remains to be
completed including your realistic assessment as to whether it is
possible to complete by Final Freeze on 2009-09-22.
If you believe your feature is NOT ready for Fedora 12, that is okay :)
Fedora 13 is only a few short months away. If you would like to target
your feature for Fedora 13:, please change the:
1) page category to "Cateogory:FeatureReadyForWranger"
2) "targeted release" to Fedora 13.
If your feature will not be ready for Fedora 12 and you aren't sure what
is going to happen to it:
1) Please change the category of your page to Category:FeaturePageIncomplete
2) Remove Fedora 12 as the targeted release.
Thank you for your help,
John

Scripted mass rebuild has completed
by Jesse Keating
The scripted part of the mass rebuild has completed, including the tag
requests to move things into dist-f12. They will be in buildroots very
soon.
Next we'll be investigating the build failures and working to resolve
those. I'll post lists of things needing to be built and known failures
soon.

Brainstorming Session for Fedora Community 2.0 - Monday August 3, 2009 - 1500 UTC
by Tom Callaway
For those of you who haven't no idea what "Fedora Community" is, its our
newest Fedora web application, providing a window into the Fedora
distribution, and leveraging the power of Fedora's Account System,
Bodhi, Bugzilla, Koji, and PackageDB into a single user-friendly
website. It is built entirely with Free Software, such as Moksha and
Turbogears 2. Fedora Community is designed to simplify Fedora workflows
and bring transparency to Fedora processes:
https://admin.fedoraproject.org/community
What you see on that URL is our 1.0 milestone, but we already have lots
of ideas on improvements and new functionality that we'd like to develop
for our 2.0 release. So, we're going to have a public brainstorming
session on Monday, August 3rd, 2009:
* The session will be held at 1500 UTC (11 AM Eastern)
(In addition, if there are enough interested international folks who
cannot attend the session due to their timezone, please let me know, and
we will try to schedule a future session that works for you)
We're going to use a variety of ways to be involved:
* IRC: #moksha on irc.freenode.net (we'll be watching and taking
questions from the channel)
* Gobby: We're going to keep our notes in Gobby, an open source
collaboration tool.
The name of our document is "Fedora Community Brainstorm", see
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Communicate/GobbyHowTo for information on
how to connect
* Telephone: This is where we'll be doing the talking.
US Toll-Free: 800-451-8679
Conference Code: 22717 79826
(If you need an international dial-in number, please email me with your
country, and I may be able to provide it.)
Please be kind and mute your line if you're not asking a question. If
the noise on the call becomes unbearable, I will mute everyone. :)
Questions about the meeting? Email me. Questions about Fedora Community
2.0? Come to the brainstorming session! Can't make it to the session and
want to suggest something? Login to Gobby and add it to our notes before
the session.
Thanks,
Tom "spot" Callaway, Fedora Community Cat Herder

Fedora Packaging Committee Seat Filled
by Tom Callaway
Thanks to everyone who applied for this open seat. We got a lot of very
qualified individuals who were interested in filling the open seat on
the Fedora Packaging Committee. After much
discussion and thought, I've asked Jon Ciesla to fill the open seat and
he has accepted.
I'm sure that we will have additional openings on the FPC in the future,
as people move on to other tasks, or get committed to various mental
institutions. ;) Please feel free to throw your name in the ring for
future openings!
A few points that I felt might be worth making:
* If you're not an active package maintainer in Fedora, it definitely
hurts your chances of being on the FPC, as we're always looking for
people who are intimately involved with Fedora packaging.
* If you haven't done many Fedora Package Reviews, it's a great way to
increase your visibility in the Fedora Packaging Community space, and
also is a good way to show us that you have a solid understanding of the
existing Fedora Packaging Guidelines. Plus, it helps us get new packages
into Fedora!
Thanks again to all who applied,
~spot

Final Call for Fedora 12 Features
by John Poelstra
Feature freeze for Fedora 12 is two days from now on 2009-07-28. Feature
freeze is the last day to submit feature pages.
If you are a feature owner or expect to see a particular feature listed
for Fedora 12, PLEASE:
1) Review this page to make sure your feature is present:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Releases/12/FeatureList
2) If you do not see your feature listed on the Fedora 12 feature list
it may be waiting for FESCo to review it (only the Feature Wrangler adds
features to this category). Please check:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Category:FeatureReadyForFesco
If you don't see your feature page in either place, it is *NOT* being
tracked for Fedora 12. Send the URL of your feature page to John
Poelstra (before 2009-07-28) and he'll help you figure out why.
Thanks,
John

More changes to syncmail in CVS
by Jesse Keating
Today we discovered that CVS commits were still often having a 30 second
delay that was unnecessary. Ricky discovered that we could pass an
option to cvs in syncmail that would prevent adding a lock to do the
diff. This seems to have removed the lock timeout, but please keep an
eye out for any issues that this may create.
