kudzu blows Linux
by Rui Miguel Silva Seabra
Hi,
With acpi=on kudzu blows Linux on this laptop, so I suspect it is
something to do with acpi.
If the problem can't be easily solved, is there any list kudzu checks
for known problems, and is there something that can be used to identify
models like mine so it doesn't blow up?
Here goes lspci, for instance:

00:01.0 PCI bridge: ATI Technologies Inc PCI Bridge [IGP 340M]

If there's something that I can search to give more info, please shoot!

hidden processes / nautilus, gnome-vfs-daemon
by Michael Schwendt
On my FC2 Test2 installation, there are four hidden processes. Three are
nautilus, one is gnome-vfs-daemon. Their PID directories below /proc are
hidden, and the processes cannot seem to be listed with "ps" either.
What exactly is the reason for hiding them?
I've failed to find something about it in the nautilus changelog.

yum in rawhide
by seth vidal
Hi everyone,
I'd appreciate if those of you on biarchs could test out the new yum
that just hit rawhide. It includes some new command line functionality:
yum install foo.i386 bar.x86_64
you can specify packagename.arch for any of the commands now:
yum update somepackage.ppc64
yum remove foo.i386
it should be handy for when you want to install a specific arch of
something and not the 'bestarch' for your platform.
I'd like this feature to get some more testing before I make a release.
Thanks

CONFIG_SOFTWARE_SUSPEND: on resume machine reboots at "restarting tasks"
by Aleksey Nogin
I've been using the Raw Hide kernels recompiled with
CONFIG_SOFTWARE_SUSPEND enabled (and CONFIG_APM disabled) and using ACPI
software suspend. For a while it worked flawlessly, but then it broke -
now at resume time, it starts resuming OK, but shortly after it says
"restarting tasks", machine suddenly reboots.
Worked OK:
2.6.3-1.116 2.6.3-1.118
No longer OK:
2.6.3-2.1.253 2.6.3-2.1.253.2.1 2.6.4-1.298
Any ideas what might be going on? Thanks a lot!
P.S. Somewhere around the time it stopped working, I started
experimenting with enabling and using SELinux, so it might be
SELinux-related.

xorg x11 update problem
by Dennis Jacobfeuerborn
I tried installing the new xorg x11 packages from the fedora development
directory and was almost successfull. Launching X11 works fine and
everything looks just like with the xfree packages but when I try to
click anywhere in the client area of a window or resize it I just manage
to initiate a window dragging action. Hovering the mouse over a button
highlights it but when I click I can only drag the window around on the
screen. The window control widgets work fine though (close, minimize).
I have now removed the xorg packages and replaced them with the old
xfree ones and the problem is no longer there.
Does anybody have an idea what might cause this?

Dennis

FC2 installation problems on existing software raid
by Optimized
Hello,
I am trying to install Fedora Core 2 on an existing software raid volume
created during the Fedora Core 1 installation process.
When I get to the disk druid (manual configuration chosen) my /dev/md*
partitions' filesystem are shown as 'foreign' instead of 'ext3'.
I didn't risk anything from that point, I simply wish to dual boot FC1
and FC2 and really don't want to loose the FC1 installation.
I've found that previous post relating the same problem :
http://www.redhat.com/archives/rhl-beta-list/2004-February/msg00800.html
What should I do?
Many thanks for your time and help.
