* Tue Aug 24 2004 Mike A. Harris <mharris(a)redhat.com> 6.7.99.902-7
- Added new rpm macro 'with_libs_data' to Conditionalize the libs-data
subpackage. This allows us to disable the "libs-data" subpackage now, as
rpm multilib should properly handle both architectures sanely, so the
workaround of having the library data in a separate package is no longer
needed. By setting 'with_libs_data' to 0, it will cause the libs-data files
to be included in the "libs" subpackage as it was in the past, and the
"libs-data" package will get obsoleted. This will simplify the rpm
packaging a slight bit for the future.

reiser4

This had to be asked sooner or later. Any plans on reiser4, or do we
wait until it's in the standard kernel?

PCMCIA woes
by Denis Leroy
I'm running an updated FC2 on my IBM T30, and insterting a compact
flash PCMCIA card (from PQI), i get the following error in
/var/log/messages :

Aug 25 19:18:30 jupiler cardmgr[24446]: bind 'memory_cs' to socket 0
failed: Invalid argument
I couldn't find any reference to those mysterious sram_mtd amd
memory_cs modules anywhere in the kernel source code, so it looks like
a packaging problem here. I guess either the pcmcia-cs configuration
files are outdated, or it's missing some extra kernel modules and the
dependency is missing from the pcmcia-cs RPM (??).
I'm using pcmcia-cs-3.2.7-1.5 and kernel-2.6.8-1.521.

evms
by Gunnar Hilling
I'd like to know if there a plans to include evms in Fedora. I think
when you have to setup server-RAID-Systems evms has some important
features like snapshots, bad block relocation and last but not least 3
types of high level interfaces (gtk, curses, shell) which ease the
volume management a lot.
Tools for logical volume management and disk management in general a
something really missing in standard distros today.

udev strange-ness
by Russell Coker
Why is bash accessing iptables, and arping on behalf of udev?
I expect that the dhclient-eth0.conf file is just from an inherited file
handle (although I don't know why it was opened, I don't have dhclient
installed any more, maybe a bug in hotplug).

I'll be sure to send you good thoughts the next time I eat a double
Lotaburger with cheese and green chili. Which just may be today...

Packaging question: conflicting binaries
by Aaron Bennett
Hello,
I'm packaging the "Pyro" python library, from
sourceforge.net/projects/pyro, and it includes several sample scripts.
Unfortunately, one of them is called "esd."
How should I deal with this? Unfortunately, making it not install them
at all requires a hack to pyro's setup.py; installing them in a
different place is easy. Is there a fedora.us custom about installing
sample python scripts as part of python libraries? Should they go into
/usr/share/doc/python-pyro/examples?
Any ideas are appreciated.
