As of a few days ago it seems that the file mentioned above is only
about 20k in size. I hope this is the right place to report this - if
not please let me know where...

samba-3.0.6-3
-------------
* Mon Aug 16 2004 Jay Fenlason <fenlason(a)redhat.com> 3.0.6-3
- New upstream version.
- Include post 3.0.6 patch from "Gerald (Jerry) Carter" <jerry(a)samba.org>
to fix a duplicate in the LDAP schema.
- Include 64-bit timestamp patch from Ravikumar (rkumar(a)hp.com)
to allow correct timestamp handling on 64-bit platforms and fix #126109.
- reenable the -pie patch. Samba is too widely used, and too vulnerable
to potential security holes to disable an important security feature
like -pie. The correct fix is to have the toolchain not create broken
executables when programs compiled -pie are stripped.
- Remove obsolete patches.
- Modify this spec file to put libsmbclient.{a,so} in the right place on
x86_64 machines.
* Thu Aug 05 2004 Jason Vas Dias <jvdias(a)redhat.com> 3.0.5-3
- Removed '-pie' patch - 3.0.5 uses -fPIC/-PIC, and the combination
- resulted in executables getting corrupt stacks, causing smbmnt to
- get a SIGBUS in the mount() call (bug 127420).
* Fri Jul 30 2004 Jay Fenlason <fenlason(a)redhat.com> 3.0.5-2
- Upgrade to 3.0.5, which is a regression from 3.0.5pre1 for a
security fix.
- Include the 3.0.4-backport patch from the 3E branch. This restores
some of the 3.0.5pre1 and 3.0.5rc1 functionality.

What's wrong with using a tmpfs for udev in such situations that xattrs
are needed? udev does not require ramfs at all. In fact, why not just
use a ext2 or ext3 partition for /dev instead today, if you really need
it?

gaim-0.82 rawhide testing
by Warren Togami
FYI...
gaim-0.82 is currently scheduled for Thursday release upstream. Every
day until then I will be updating the rawhide FC3 gaim to a CVS snapshot
so that we can easily participate in bug squashing and possibly prevent
last minute regressions from reaching 0.82 final. A great many bugs are
fixed in 0.82 target snapshots, including several File Transfer crashers
that Fedora users were complaining about.
Bug Reports against our gaim-0.81.99 CVS snapshots should be filed ONLY
in RH Bugzilla against Product: Fedora Core Version: devel. Please be
sure to search for duplicates before filing bugs.

Will barrier support for ext3 be enabled by default for FC3 or errata kernel
by Yusuf Goolamabbas
Hi, Looking at the latest bk tree via bkbits.net, I see that barrier
support for ext3/reiserfs has been added into 2.6.9-pre. Will Fedora
Core 3 automatically mount with write barriers enabled for ext3
filesystem on a new install/upgrade.
What about a future FC2 kernel errata ?
Also, can anybody tell if there is feature parity between ext3/reiserfs
in terms of barrier support. Are fsync as well as journal commits safe
with barrier+write-back caching enabled ?
Regards, Yusuf

New glibc cause compile problems
by Steve G
Hi,
Just a quick heads up. There is a problem in the latest rawhide version of
glibc-2.3.3-46. One place it shows up is compiling the rpm package. I get this:
/usr/lib/libdl.a(eval.o)(.text+0x1ec): In function `_start':
: multiple definition of `_start'
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.3/../../../crt1.o(.text+0x0): first
defined here
And then the rpm package build dies.
The -45 release of glibc does not have this problem, so its something in the last
changeset. Filed as: #130717.

USB mass-storage (e.g. camera): how to access?
by Tim Waugh
I just tried plugging in a USB camera, which acts as a mass storage
device, and expected to be able to point and click to see the pictures
on it. Put there is nothing in the 'Computer' window to click on!
How is this meant to work? All I know is that it doesn't..
I have today's rawhide packages installed, upgraded from FC2 a couple
of weeks ago.

SELinux screwup in FC2 update-kernels
by Enrico Scholz
Hello,
in recent FC2 update-kernels (verified on 2.6.7-1.494.2.2, and 2.6.8-1.521
changelog does not indicate a fix), SELinux is unusable because:
* policy can not be rebuilt ('checkpolicy' has compatibility range
15-17, but kernel is 18)
* sshd fails to allocate a second pty
Is SELinux in FC2 assumed as completely broken and newer kernels will
not fix these issues? Or, can I expected a fixed kernel/policy/tools in
the near future?
