I wish to stop maintaining python2-defusedxml

Only one package (fawkes-devenv) requires python2-defusedxml. It already has broken dependencies on mogodb-server and the source package (fawkes) doesn't build. fawkes-devenv is not required by any other package. Enable dmarc mitigations

Hello all! Currently Fedora mailing lists use "From" field from original messages and if sender's domain use DMARC=reject policy, mailing lists subscribers cannot receive any messages from such users because their MX servers follow DMARC procedure and drop them. Previously I opened ticket in Fedora Infra[1]. Someone need to fix this because more and more mailing servers starts enforcing DMARC=reject. How to install a mountpoint directory from an rpm?

Hi, I need to install a directory (/afs) that will be a mountpoint that a systemd service (also installed in the rpm) will mount upon. What's the best way to encode this in the specfile? I did have: %files /afs but that doesn't upgrade correctly. Someone gave me another way to do it: %post %systemd_post afs.mount # Create /afs directory if it doesn't exist if [ ! -d /afs ]; then mkdir /afs chown root.root /afs chmod 0755 /afs [ -x /usr/sbin/restorecon ] && /usr/sbin/restorecon /afs fi %files %ghost %dir /afs but rpmlint complains about the chown: kafs-client.x86_64: W: dangerous-command-in-%post chown The git repo is here: http://git.infradead.org/users/dhowells/kafs-client.git/shortlog/refs/heads… The second patch from the top is the one that tries to fix the mountpoint dir installation issue ("spec: Treat /afs special"). dropping autogenerated dependency on pkg-config

Hi everyone, currently, we autogenerate a dependency on pkg-config for all rpms that ship a .pc file. "dnf repoquery --whatrequires /usr/bin/pkg-config" returns 4632 entries on my laptop. This has always felt backward to me: those packages *provide* something that is used by pkg-config, they don't *require* pkg-config for anything. As an analogy, packages with headers are read by a C compiler, but we don't make them require gcc, and if a package ships an .so file, we don't add a dependency on the linker to it. Instead, anything which wants to consume .pc files should simply depend on the tools that consume those files (pkg-config, pkgconf, or a custom re-implementation). Proposal: let's drop the autogenerated dependency on /usr/bin/pkg-config (this would require a trivial change in /usr/lib/rpm/pkgconfigdeps.sh). Note: autogenerated Provides/Requires like pkgconfig(foo) are not part of this proposal. Advantages: - less entries in the dependency graph - removal of illogical dependency - less packages installed (pkgconf, pkgconf-m4, pkgconf-pkg-config, libpkgconf) (Those packages are small, maybe 200k together so this isn't a strong reason.) Disadvantages: - stuff that uses pkg-config or pkgconf will need to grow a dependency (e.g. meson which invokes /usr/bin/pkg-config internally). so there will be some churn. Zbyszek

Hey! There are 2 Python related changes in Fedora 31 that unfortunately interact with each other. https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/Python3.8 https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/Sphinx2 The following packages (owners bcc'ed) BuildRequire both python2-sphinx AND python3-devel. Hence the package won't be able to be rebuilt for the Python 3.8 update. I'd appreciate if you could drop the dependency on python2-sphinx to make the Python 3.8 transition possible. For packages that are needed by other packages, I might eventually do it myself. (Note that this information is from repoquery, if you already fixed this in git only, sorry for the noise.) Thank You! FYI results of the OCaml 4.08 beta 3 rebuild

https://pagure.io/releng/issue/8310 I'm rebuilding OCaml 4.08.0 beta 3 into a side tag. This is a preliminary rebuild only - I'll do the real rebuild when 4.08.0 is finally released. This email has interim results. * ocaml-camlp4, ocaml-camlp5 (macro packages) Still waiting for these to be ported to 4.08. I had a go at porting camlp4 but the changes were beyond my skills, so we'll have to wait for someone that knows what they're doing. Unfortunately lack of these packages blocks about a third of the other packages. * ocaml-zarith (integer arithmetic library) Fails to build the final zq binary. I'm not sure this is related to the compiler upgrade at all, could be an unrelated FTBFS. * ocaml-camomile (Unicode) * ocaml-benchmark (timing & benchmarking) Both of these enable warn-error for deprecated code, and fail because the new compiler emits more deprecation warnings (which turn into errors). I will have a go and see if I can remove the warn-error for both these packages later. Plan to retire ffgtk (Fritzbox manager)

hi all, I am planning to retire ffgtk as I no longer use it and it does no longer work with "recent" Fritzbox modem firmware from AVM. Any objections? I now Roger exists s replacement, but I have no interest in packiging it. best regards, Louis
