They are supposed to be entirely distinct binary rpms, even if built from the same stone.
*By convention*, the non-numbered binary is the linked to the system default version of
python.
Personally, I’d have been glad to wait a few more years before ending this practice. But
eagerness to force python3 as a default may force advises to demand its removal.
