If the kernel really locks up it is locked up and no keys work anymore.
Without "rhgb quiet" one can make a photo of the screen.
A better solution would be to use serial console all the time but the ethernet
one does not work during crashes and physical serial hardware is no longer
available in modern computers.
While I use a serial console all the time, after all low level Arm
early boot process practically mandates it, I don't see what this has
to do with this thread.
