But I want to be clear that there is no *proposal* on the
table to ship things Flatpak only, and *no proposed timescale*. And
there won't be until we know how the tools work out for packagers, how
Flatpak usage works out for users, and we have a significant body of
Fedora packages built as Flatpaks to look at things like installed size
and network usage.
Then I'm glad there is absolutely no plan to preempt flatpack technical assessment by
shipping one or more GNOME apps as flatpack-only, leaving Fedora users for whom flatpack
does not work yet behind, and bypassing distribution consensus processes.
This kind of action would be really divisive¹, especially while simultaneously seeking
Fedora endorsement.

¹ Those shortcuts rarely end well. Even when the missing bits are eventually added, users
have a long memory of being left in the dust because their use-cases are deemed
"wrong" or "uninteresting".
