If you maintain one spec for all branches then you will need %if-%else. And yes, it
works.
I am sure I am not alone for preferring to
have one spec for all branches. If SPDX
is going to be prohibited in pre-F38, pre-EL10,
then the proposed automation PR should
add the %if-%else license clause at approval
of the proposal for *all* existing spec files, for
otherwise we will forget about it(*) and
SPDX will eventually flow backwards to other
those previous branches when updating the
packages to those previous branches is
necessary/desired.
(*) Yes, perhaps those of us currently
engaged in this thread will add in the
logic, but I am not convinced most
packagers are going to be paying close
enough attention to not fall into the trap
at some future point.
