Enable systemd-resolved by default. glibc will perform name resolution using nss-resolve rather than nss-dns.
I've tested systemd-resolved on my laptop for a month. It worked very, very unstable. Sometimes it stopped responding and I needed to manually restart its service.
I too have been using it increasingly both on Fedora and on a fleet of Ubuntu 18.04 machines and don't recognise that experience at all.
I have seen the stability issues that Vitaly described also, requiring manual restart occasionally.
I also (modulo one bug which is now fixed upstream) find it to be much better at handling DNSSEC than either bind or unbound.
I occasionally have to disable DNSSEC, because it doesn't always work... though this might be due to improper DNS records for some sites, and I haven't compared with anything else.
